CHAPTER  24

Reshma  tried to sleep but  she  was  wide  awake.....she  tossed  and  turned  in  bed.....her  mind  was  not  relaxed.....she  felt  anxious.....and   suddenly  felt  a slight  pain  in  her  head'    ''Oh  No...please  God..i  don't  want    to  be  sick  again.......i  need  to  be  strong  to  work...i   need  money  for  my  mother's  operation......"'  she   prayed  out  loudly...,,then  began to fiddle  with  the  chain and pendant  round   her  neck.......and   wondered  how  she  was  going  to  talk  to  the  man  who  had  helped  her  escape  from  Sunil gupta
she  sat  up  in  bed.......and   dug  out  her  mother's   photo  from  her  bag..and   asked her  blessings  to  give  her  strength......
The  next  day   .....she   quickly  showered  and  put  on  her  favourite   yellow  suit...tied  her  hair  up  and  ran  down  the  stairs  quickly....had  hot  coffee  at  a  road side  stall  and  hurried  along  on  her   way............when  she   saw  a  car  drive  by  and  the  man  she  had seen  last  night.......in  it..........a  chaeuffer  was  driving  the  car..........Reshma  ran  as  fast  as  she  could........then  stopped   when  the  car  stopped.....the   chaeuffer  got  down......and   walked  up  to  a  newspaper  stand....and    was  began  to  choose   magazines...,Reshma   ...caught  her  breath, and  hurried  to  the  car,,,,,the  man  inside  got  out  just  as  Reshma  reached  him.."..Sir''  she  called  out    ..'' i  Hope  you  can  help me''....her  Duppata   suddenly    flew  across her  face....'making  her  loose  her  vision  for  a few  minutes...and  she  lost  her  balance....and  she  would  have  fallen  if   a  hand  had  not   touched her  waist...and  steadied  her.....
''Are  you  okay.....miss.........'' the  man  asked......Reshma  moved  away ..while  trying  to   get  rid  of  her dupatta  off   her  face''
''  Raghav   Gupta.....son....''....how  are  you ?.it  has  been   quite  some  time  since  i  last  saw  you....''.Someone  from  behind  Reshma  said
'Reshma  froze......when  she  heard  Gupta......oh  no! ......Gupta........he  was also   Gupta..!..........Reshma  turned  away  at  once....and   ran  away........leaving  Raghav   puzzled......
'Raghav  sir....."'what  was  that  all about.."'.....who  is  that  girl..?......krish  asked   .........carrying  a plastic  bag  of   magazines and   newspaper
'' i  don't  know....but  she  asked  me  if  i  could  help..her.....then  she  ran away.......i  hope  she  is  okay...........'''said  Raghav.....and    put  his  hand  into  his  pocket......for  a brief  moment  he  had  held  her  waist........he  felt  he  had  touched   fire.........even  it  was  only  a few  seconds..........why  did  this  happen  to  him......?   
''i  am  doing  great  uncle  Sam.......''  replied  Raghav   turning  towards  the  elderly  man  who  had  spoken to  him....just  before  the  girl  ran  away, Sam asked
" and  your  little  girl.........''''that  cute   little  angel.....so  like  her  mother..........
''she  is   fine  too....''   replied  Raghav.......and   looked  at  the  road  ahead  of  him......the  girl  had  dissappeared....
Reshma    stopped  and  leaned  against  a  tree   and  breathed  deeply...........her  tiny waist  was  still tingling  from   the  man's  touch......he  meant  to  save  her  from  falling..........a  tear rolled  down  her cheek.........He  was  also  Gupta......now  there was  no  one  to  help.....her.......she   needed  this  job  badly.....''what  was  she  to  do..........?......how  was  she  going  to   help  her  dear  mother........
Raghav   relaxed  back  in his   car  and  tried  to  read  the  head  lines  of  the  newspaper..but  all he  could  think  is  the  girl  who  had  fallen  in  his   arm      ...her  eyes..! ..her  eyes...!.....through  the  flimsy  duppatta........had  held  his  for  a  moment......before  she  broke  free from  him  and  ran...........Krish  noticed   this  but  remained  silent
Reshma  straightened    her  dupatta...and   walked  quickly   to  KD   SOFT  TOYS.........other  staffs    were  already  there at  the  canteen.''Reshma....come  join  me   .."  Shivanee  Balakumaran......invited  as  soon as  she   saw  Reshma...............
Reshma    was  glad  for  Shivanee's   company......."  She  spoke   '  You  missed  our  senior  Boss  ..   Raghav Gupta....  yesterday  , he  is.  Sunil Gupta's  older  brother.   ...Reshma." .......he   liked   the  tea  you  made..and  he  stood  for  a  long  time  admiring  your  floral  arrangement.........he  is  a very  fine  and  good  boss......you  can  tell  him  anything,.....he   will  help  you............we  hold  so  much  respect  for  him........Reshma  ate  her  puri........quietly.......and   her  mind  thought.......".yah   sure,,,like  he  was  going  to  listen to    complaints  about  his own  brother.....trying  to  flirt with  her..and  worse  she  fell in his  arms   this  morning   ..
"wooawww......you  are  real  quiet  today......something  bothering  you.."    Shivanee   ....seemed  concerned....and  touched  Reshma's  hand  gently...''  time  to  get   to  work.......see  you  later  Reshma...''Shivanee   stood  and  straightened  her   suit  and  walked  a few  steps  away  then  came  back
"don't  be  afraid  of   Sunil Gupta     .    Reshma.....you  can  talk  to   Raghav  Gupta....he  is  a reliable  person............and  he  too knows  about  his  brother...i  will text  you  his  private  number.....later.........if  you  need  help.........
Reshma   nearly  dropped  her  cup  of  coffee......'getting  this  information........so   everyone  knew  about   Mr  Romeo.......she  felt  glad  suddenly.......god  was really   there   to  help her in the form  of  Raghav Gupta.......now  Sunil Gupta  has  to stay away from her.......Reshma  became cheerful  at  once.....and  started  her  work happily.............she  checked  her  phone..as  promised . Shivanee had  texted   Raghav,Gupta's  private  number  to  her..............
Sunil    Gupta   arrived  early  and   went  straight  to  his  office  but  not  before  peeping  at  Reshma.s    Cubicle...she  was  busy  working   and  seemed  cheerful.......and  god she  looked  so  lovely  .........he  wanted  to  just  walk  to  her  and  talk to her,,and  just  spend time  looking  at  her.......where was she  all his  life  he  thought...............but  she  was  so   hard.............he  could  just  wait  for  hours  just  to  see  her  smile.......he  had  seen  her   beautiful  smile.............Reshma  looked  up  suddenly  and  caught  Sunil Gupta   watching  her.....she   continued  working,,...it  was  not  long  now..........after  her  call to  Raghav Gupta  .......she  will be  rid  of him.......she  can  concentrate  on  working  harder..to save money  for  her  mother's  operation.......
Reshma  hurried  out  of  the  office.......but  was cornered  by  Sunil  Gupta ......".Reshma......'..........................Reshma    was shaken  by  her  boss' sudden move......''Reshma......please  i  just  want  to  talk  to  you......" ''Reshma ...was terrified.......and  began to  run........Sunil  ran  after  her......"Reshma  wait.....i  just  want  to  talk  to  you...........Reshma  ran   where  her  legs  could  carry...........she  just  ran.........and  went  smack  into  something  ....and  stumbled......a  pair  of  hands  caught,,, her ''''Reshma   ''  i  just want  to  talk  to  you.......why  are  you   behaving  like  this...? ...Sunil  came  in  view  minutes  later........and  froze........his  brother  Raghav  was   holding  Reshma...her  hair  dishellved......almost  covering  her  face........".Sunil !........stop  it.........Raghav  released  Reshma  who  staggered  and  ran.......off...Raghav     rushed  forward  and  gave  one  hard   slap  to  Sunil......who  tasted  blood  on  his  lips....'' i advised  you  to  get  to  know  her.....not  try  to  seduce  her.....''when  will you  learn  Sunil........why  do  you  keep  doing  this...''    Raghav  shouted   .....turning  to  see  where  Reshma  had  run off.................Raghav  left   Sunil to nurse  his  wound.........and  went  searching  for  Reshma  who  had  called on  his  private  number  ......she  was  crying  so  much  on  the  phone  as  she  was running..and  Raghav  who  was  still in  hydrabhad,,,,just about  to  return  home  has stopped   at  the  KD SOFT TOYs  godown.......and seen   a  girl  running.......   had  followed  her  as  she  ran  straight  into  him...........and  now  she  was  missing  again...........TO  BE  CONTINUED..........Evelyn
