CHAPTER   31

The  puppy   Raghav  and  Krish  rescued.......was   becoming  so  attached  to  little  sanjana,....and  watching  her  Raghav  decided  what he was  going  to  do........with  the  help  of  his  faithful........Chauffeur...........they  both  hatched  a  plan.........and   they  were  still in  the  midst  of    their  plotting....when  a  maid   walked  up  to  them...''sir    i  found  this  in  the  pocket  of  your   jeans   sir.......
"what   is  it,, Raghav    asked''.......
Krish  took  the  blue  glittery  item....which  was  actually    an  earing.......
Raghav   took  it  from  Krish  and  both  the  men  recognised    that  piece  of  jewelery.........''Raghav    sat  quietly.....on  the  sofa......it  was    a  diamond  earing.....and  it  belonged  to  his  mother.....
'' where  did  you  find  it  sir.....Krish  asked  sitting  beside  Raghav.......
i  found  it   on  the  day  we  took  Reshma  to  Kalpana's  old  flats.......i    stepped  on  something  and  i  just  picked  it  up  and  put  it  in  my  pocket.......

Krish  was   shaken.......his  suspicions  was  taking  form.......he  never  liked  the  way  Madam  Rubina  looked  at  Kalpana...right  from  the  first  day  Raghav  sir  had  brought  her  to  the  house
'' ....wait  here  krish.....i  need  to  find  out.....Let  me  know  if  my  mother  drives  in........Raghav  rushed  upstairs  immediately...to  his  mother's  room........he  knew  the   combination  to  his  mother's  safe. lock  box  ......his  hands  shook   as  he  slowly  combined  the  secret  code.....he  had  never  done  this  before.......he  was  tresspassing  but  he  did  not  care........what   was  Rubina's  earing   .  doing  at  Kalpana's  old  flats,.............the  safe  opened  with  a  slight  click.........Raghav  carefully....checked  the  jewel  case......one  earing  was  missing.......Raghav  began  to  sweat.......as  he  came  across  photos  of  kalpana......in  all different  locations..........the  photoes   suggessted  that  some  one  had  actually    followed  Kalpana  everywhere................one  photo  had   red  ink  circled  around  her  neck..
Raghav  could  not  believe  what  he  had  come  across.....the    last   photo     had  the   chilling   words..'Checkmate'...Mission accomplished......
Raghav   was  shaking...his  own  mother  had  done  all these  evil  deeds..........he  cried  as  he  hugged  Kalpana's  photoes  close  to  him............so   Rubina    had   gone  to  Kalpana's  old  flats   and  had  stayed  hidden  and  pushed   kalpana  down  the  stairs....in  order  to  finish  her  off..but  Kalpana  has  survived  the  fall...........the  tears    fell uncontrolably..........why?......why  ?  Rubina..........how  could   she.........Kalpana   was  a  sweet  angel.....who  meant  well for  everyone...........Raghav  recalled  the  many  times  Kalpana  had  voiced  out  her  fears  that  her  mother in  law  did  not  like  her  and  did  not  want  her to  be  a part  of  Gupta  family.....and  he  had  simply  brushed  her   fears  aside...he  had  trusted  and  loved  his  mother  all through  the  years ......
Krish  sent   him  a  message  to  take  pictures  if  he  had  found  anything  and  Raghav  did   with  shaking  hands..........and     quickly  placed  all the  things  he  had  found     back  in  place  and  rushed  downstairs    ,,, and  together  with  krish  left  the  house......
i  had  suspected  Madam  rubina  sir  but  so  afraid  to  inform  you,,,,,she  is  your  mother  ... krish  said  almost    in  a  whisper  afraid  for  how  Raghav  would  react   for  his  words...

judging   through  the  items  i  found  Krish.......i  believe    my  mother  was  the  master mind  behind  kalpna's  death.......and  Sureka   ..mentioned...'so  she  succeeded  in  separating  you......and  kalpana................when  Sureka  tried  to   reveal   who  that  person  was...she  herself   ended  up  dead......sad......
. " i  need  to  get  to  the  bottom  of  this  Krish.........i    am  not  sure  If  kalpana  had  died  due  to  excessive    child  birth  bleeding  or  something  terrible  had  happened  to  her........and  now  am   confused  about  the  appearance  of  Reshma  Raj....who  looks  like   Kalpana......deep  inside........i  feel  it  is  Kalpana..but   there   is  not  a single  sign   which    proved  Reshma   is   Kalpana....
''  my  princess   lost  her  mother,,,,i  believed  so  all these  years.....but  the  fact  is  Kalpana  was  murdered......more  tears  came......''
Krish  put  his  arm  on  Raghav's  shoulder..............all these  revelations  were  shocking.........Kali  ma.....has  shown  him  ........at  last...  it  was  Rubina  who  had  pushed  Kalpana  madam    8  years  ago....but   god  had  saved  her  and  the  child  she  was  carrying..........at  the  time  of  the  fall.......'we  need  to  be  very  carefull    krish...we  just  have  to be    normal  and  calm...... or  she  will  be  alerted......
Raghav   sat  in  the  mandhir  and  cried  his  heart  out....... his  kalpana  was  gone  because  of  one  evil  woman....his  own  mother.....Raghav  felt  as  though  a  knife  had  pierced  his  heart......he  was  conceived  in  that  woman's  womb......he  cursed  the  day  that  happened,
Krish  sat  with  Raghav  till  the  tears  subsided...............both  the  men    washed  their  faces..and  left  the  temple......
Raghav  drove  back  to  the  house  ..it  was   so  long  since  he  had  occupied    his  room......he  unlocked  it  and  stepped  in....and  pushed  aside  the   cover  from  the  potrait  on  the  wall...above  his  bed.........the  smile  of   the  girl   whose  face  was illuminated  by  birthday  candle,...."'.Kalpana  Deepti  Tejwani........ i will  love  you  for ever.........'you  have  a  little  girl..her  name  is  Sanjana...she  looks  like  you......i am  sorry  i  did  not  believe  you.............Raghav  closed  his  eyes   ....''Daddy.......mummy  looks  so  beautiful..when  is  she  coming  to  see  me...?..you  promised......;;Sanjana;s   innocent  words  choked   him

Rubina     sat   in  her  room..........drinking..........everthing  had  been  going  her  way      for  the  past  few  years..  both  her  sons  were  with  her.....the  family  business  had  flourished.....and  extended  more.......she  was  the  number  one    Businesswoman........who  was  respected  and  feared.........she  had  eliminated  all kind  of   mishaps  ..flaws..misgivings..........to  stay  on  top...she  beamed  with  pride.............''Hello  Mother.....'',You  seem  to  love   the  darkness...
Rubina   was  startled  at  Ragha'v    suddenly   cold  voice.......
"'Oh  Raghav.........it  is  you..........you  know  at  times  i  love  less  light............
"how  was  your  day   Raghav........Rubina  asked   sweetly  as  always.........'''
  i  found  out  about  you  and  your  evil  ways..... i  curse  the  day  i  was  conceived  in your  womb.......'Raghav  's  mind  spoke..
'it  went  well   .....  ...how  was  yours.?........am sure    it  was   awesome.....you  pulled  in  another  deal.......Raghav  replied  and  sat  across  her.......he  leaned  forward  and  switched  on  the  lights   ,.,Rubina  was  seated  in  her  favourite  arm chair,....a  glass  of   brandy    in  her   right  hand..while  the    other  was   playing  with  the  strand  of  pearls....around  her  neck............

Rubina........put  her  glass  on  the  table,and    smiled  at   Raghav.....,,not  knowing  that   cat  was  out  of  the  bag......her  demonic   ways   revealed................
