CHAPER 39...
Kalpana   stayed  in  Raghav's  embrace.....long  after  Sunil  was  taken  away  in  an ambulance  after  being  shot  by  Rubina....
Raghav  held  her  close  to  him.....his  shirt  was  becoming soaking  wet  with  the  uncontrolable  tears  kalpana  was  shedding...she  clung  to  him as  though  she  was clinging  for  dear  life.......soon  the  silent  tears  turned  to  loud  sobs.........Raghav  felt  a lump  in   his  throat as she  held  her  close.......all these  years  he  had  lived  in  bitterness and  sadness....thinking  his  Kalpana was  gone  for ever.......and  here  she  was  in  his  arms   ...her  small  fragile  body  shook  so  hard  that   Raghav  had  to  carry  her  to  his  car..where  Mr and  Mrs Raj  Kishen.....were  waiting.....He  gently  tried  to  make  Kalpana  sit  in  the car  but  she  just  clung  to  him.............Raghav   slowly  sat  in  his  car ........kalpana  wound  her  arms  around  Raghav's  neck  and  laid  her  head  on  his  chest.......she  was  hysterical......Raghav  became  worried  at  once ......and  requested  Raj  Kishen  if   he  could  drive  to   the   hospital.........Raj  Kishen  obliged  and  sat  behind  the  wheel..while   his  wife  sat  beside   him......all  the  way  to  the  hospital....Kalpana  could  not  stop  crying
while  there  Kalpan was  sedated  ... Raghav  sat  on her  bed  and  brushed  aside  the locks  of  hair  falling  on her  face....her   eyes  were  swollen  from  crying....he  stroked  her  hand....and  leaned  foward  and  kissed her on  her  temple..........he  cried  to  think  all the  pain  and suffering  she  must  have  gone  through...all  the  pain  caused  by  Rubina.......his  mother.....was  plain  evil.....and  did  not  deserve  to  live.........kalpana  only  showed  love   but  Rubina  returned  it  with  poison......Raghav  sighed  as  he  recalled  kalpana's  fear .....when  she  had voiced  out  her  fear  about  Rubina  and  Raghav  had  brushed  it  aside....thinking  it  was  Rubina.'s   harsh....ways  as  she   had  built  her  business  alone...after   the  death  of  her  husband...    '..Raghav and Sunil 's  father........
if  only  Raghav  had  paid  attention  to  kalpana's  fears..instead  of  defending  his  mother.........perhaps  the  entire  situation  would  have  been  different.............brushing  aside  his  regrets.. Raghav  concentrated  on  kalpana...who  was  tossing  and  turning  and  suddenly  delirious  as  she  kept  repeating  and  calling  out  Raghav's  name......she  refused  to  let  go  of  his  hand.....Raj  kishen  and  his  wife  witnessed  the  trauma  kalpana  was  going  through..they  had  seen  her  demented  while  she  was  in  the   home..she  stared  at the walls  for  days..not  knowing  who  she  was..........Raj kishen and  his  wife  had  cared  for  her..for  almost  ten   years........she  had  no  recollection of herself  and  had  settled  with  explanation  that  she  was  Raj Kishen's  daughter.......her  past  life  was  behind  her....and  now  with  the  blessings  of   kali ma......Kalpana  got  her  memory  back  and  she  recognised     her  husband............
Raghav  sat  beside  kalpana  until  she  finally  relaxed  and  fell asleep.......leaving  her  in  the  care  of  Raj  kishen....Raghav   went  to  check  on  Krish...his  driver......he  was  awake ..he  had  a  bandage  on  his  head.....a  deep  cut  but  no  concussion,,but  still under  observation....
''Raghav  sir......''.is  kalpana  madam  really  back...''...she  asked.....Reshma  is  kalpana...i  am  so  glad........can  i  see  her  please....'' he  begged
"No  krish  you  need to  rest.......'' Raghav  advised..''kalpana....is  asleep....you  can  see  her  in the  morning........she  obviously  lost  her  memory  and  got  it  back...,,just  befor  Sunil   took  her  away....
Is  Sunil  sir..okay..." krish  wanted  to  know.......Raghav  shook  his  head  and  turned  to  leave...''Sunil  took  a bullet   From  Rubina   meant  for  kalpana....he  dived  in front  of  kalpana  and  saved  her,......i  need  to  go  and  see  him  now  Krish.
krish   tried  to  get  out  of  bed  but the nurse stopped  her....''' you  need  to  rest  please
Raghav  walked  into  ICU.........Sunil  was  in  bad  shape.....he  had  wires  through  his  mouth......he  had  lost  a  lot  of  blood.....  Raghav  bit  his  lip....'' open  your  eyes  sunil..Please.........open  your  eyes...........
"the  doctors  who  was monitoring  Sunil'   stood  beside......Raghav''   he  is  damn  lucky  the  bullet  missed his  heart  by  one   inch....or  else  it  would  have  been  fatal.........his  blood  pressure  had  dropped  so  low.........strict  observation...........he  has to  come  out  of  his   comatose   ,,the  sooner  the  better.........'Raghav   could  see   Sunil  breathing  deeply....''Open  your  eyes  Sunil........ Raghav  chanted  silently....
at  two  a.m.....Sunil  had  a seizure....nurses  ran  to  him   ......his  whole  body  was  shaking .....his  body  was  twisting...............an injection  was  given,.......Sunil    lay   in  bed..........Raghav  clutched  his  hand......it  was  limp.............'' Sunil  wake  up..for  god's  sake....Raghav  almost  shouted
the   nurses  had  to   drag  Raghav  away.. as  the   doctors   tried  to  revive  his heart  beat........Sunil  was begining  to  turn  blue........Raghav  watched  in  horror....and  leaned  against  the  door...............one  last  pump....the  electrocardiagraph....gave  signs  Sunil was   ..........breathing
Raghav  wept   for  joy........Sunil  was  going  to be   allright............Raghav  refused  to  leave  the  ICU.........almost  6  hours  later.......Sunil  opened  his  eyes....... Raghav  was   standing......beside  his  bed.......a  gentle   reaasuring  hand  on  his......He  gave  a  weak  smile........a  tear  escaped  him  as  he  looked  guiltily....at  his  elder  brother.....'' Raghav  just  wiped  that  tear  ....and  leaned  forward  and   touched  his  head
''you  will be  out  of  here........in  no  time.......just  relax  Sunil.........Raghav  turned  to  leave  but  Sunil  caught  hold  of  Raghav's  arm
"I am  sorry  Bhaiya......"'   he  said   ......almost  in  a whisper.........''How is  Bhabi........and  Krish....'
"' She  is  asleep...  Sunil.....now  rest  i  will see  you  in  the  morning..........Krish  had  a  nasty   cut  to  his  head.......'''he  will  be  allright.....too..now   rest  Sunil''
Mother......what  about  Mother...? '   Sunil  asked.......he  could  still  see the  gun  in her  hand............
''we  will  talk  about  it  later  Sunil..now  go  to  sleep........i will handle   everthing'' Raghav  replied  and  left  the  room
Sunil  watched   Raghav  go...........Big  Brothers  are  always  meant  to  be
Kalpana  looked  around  for  Raghav  as  soon  as  she  woke  up........she  saw  Raj  Kishen  and   sheila     ...in  the  room''
Beti    Please  rest..Raghav   has  gone  for  a cup  of  coffee.......Raj  Kishen   said  and  looked  towards  the  door....Raghav  walked  in...and  went  straight  to  Kalpana  who  hugged  him.....so  tightly ......the  two  persons  who  had  taken  care  of  her  cried.....
''Mummy  Mummy......''
kalpana  turned  swiftly  at the  childs's  words......words  that  brought  true  meaning  to  her  now....all the  while  she  was  just  taking  care  of  her  employer's  daughter.....it  was  totally  different  now.....kalpana  raised  her  arms....with  so  much  love......Sanjana  was  her  child  ...born  of  her  womb.........''Sanjana  my  child.......''  kalpana  cried  and   hugged    the  little  girl.....
