CHAPTER  32

Raghav   waited  till Sanjana    slept........after  tucking  his daughter  in  bed......Raghav  crept  out  the  room...went  straight  to  the  porch  where  his  car  was.....krish  was   waiting  for him......the  dog  chester  was  being  taken  away  for  a few  days,...........Raghav  felt  bad  for  his  little  princess......he  had  no  other  choice..........but  go  ahead  with  his  plan...........Chester   began  to  whine,,he  did  not  like  the  dark.....and  before   it  started  barking...krish  sped  off
I  want  Reshma  in  the  house  by   tomorow  afternoon.......''Raghav  said  and   dialled  a few  numbers'
''i  know  she  will come  sir.......you  have  paid  the  bills  for  her  mother's  operation......she  has  to  come''
after  having  driven   for  almost  two  hours........krish   handed  the  dog  to  his  brother  ,,to  care  for it   until  he  comes  back  for  it'
Raghav  and  krish  returned home. .....and  Raghav  settled  in  bed......he  had  plans........the  feelings  of  love  and  respect   for  his  mother.....began  to  leave  him..........
Raghav   tossed  and  turned  in  bed......he  could  not  sleep.......he  lay  wide  awake.....thinking  ..kalpana;s  face  appeared  in  front  of  him..she  was  smilling...........she  held  out  her  hand   ,,and  he  took  it,,,she  slipped  into  the  bed  beside him,,and    gently  laid  his  head  on  her  lap....and  played  with  the  hair  on  his  forhead,........she  ran  her  fingers   over  his   chest  and   kisssed him......holding  him  close  to  her........Raghav  reached  out  for  her.......but  there  was  no  one  there..it  was  only  a dream........Raghav   pushed  the  bedsheets  away  and  sat  up  in  bed....
the  room  was  in  darkness.....Raghav  switched  on  the  light  and  it  was  then  he  heard  little   Sanjana  wail.....''daddy  daddy.......chester  is  gone,,i  want  my  chester
Raghav  smilled.......his  plan  was  working.........he  got  up  immediately........and  rushed  to  his  daughter's  room'':what  is   it   princess?
daddy    daddy    Chester  is  gone....it   was  sleeping    in  its  bed.... now   chester   is  gone......Sanjana  began  to  cry.......Raghav  hugged  her''
It  must  be  in  the  house   Sanjana,we  will  look  for  it  in  the  morning,......
''No  No....I  want  my  Chester  now'''''Sanjana  sat  on  the  floor"  and  cried  even  harder......Raghav  carried  her  back  to  her  bed.......tomorrow  we  will  go  look  for  Chester,,..i  will  inform  uncle  krish'''
Sanjana  refused  to  listen  to  her  daddy.............and  began  to  throw    a tantrum......something   she  has  not  done  before   ........... Rubina appeared  at  the  door  ......irritated.......
''Raghav  ....do  you  realise  what  time  it  is....?.........spank  her  and  send  her  to  bed''
"'  she  is  a  child  ...mother........i  have  told  you  before...........to  let  her  be.............
Rubina    glared  at  Raghav  and   left  the  room...............Raghav  chuckled  ...............there  was  more  to  come  for  an  evil  woman'
''  i  want  my  mummy,''    you  promised  daddy  ...you  promised........Sanjana  began  to  wail   even   louder........
i  know  princess............"   Raghav  replied     and     dialled  krish  to    drive  to  Raj  Kishen's  house  to  get  Reshma.............Sanjana    was    crying   so  hard ...her  tiny  body  shaking........Raghav  felt  bad   again   but  he  had  to  do  it................
Raj  kishen   .....looked  out  of  the  window    and   saw  Krish  outside..........Raghav  had  called  him  up  to  ask  for  help.......he   had  requested    for  Reshma  to  help  him  for  a few  days      till  the  Nurse   lalitha   came   back  to  work.............
Reshma  felt  it  was  her   duty  to  help   Raghav  Gupta........she  was indebted   to  him    for      helping   her  mum
Reshma  quickly  packed  a  small  bag  and     got  into  the  car,,,
Krish  smilled...........Raghav's  plan  was  working....................krish   constantly  looked  at  reshma  through  the  mirror.......she   had  dozed  off........her  face  so  calm  in  sleep ........so  much  like   Kalpana  madam............
krish   stopped  the  car  in  front  of   Gupta  mansion   .......Raghav  came  forward..and  greeted  Reshma......she  smilled  'and  asked  politely  ...if  everything  was  ok.....though  she  was unaware  of  what  the  situation  was.....her  father  had  woken  her  up   with  the  information  that   Raghav Gupta  needed  help  for  a few  days..........Raghav  ushered  Reshma  into  the  house.........and  felt  his  heart  thumping  fast  within  him..................it  was  like  ushering  kalpana   all  over  again.......,a  silent  tear    escaped  his  eye........Reshma  stood  in  the  middle  of  the  hall  for  a few  minutes.........taking  in  her  surrounding...........it  was  a beautiful  ,,lavish   house.......
"i  want  my  mummy'...i want  my  mummy  ....i  want  my  chester......;'    ......these  words   made  Reshma  jump  a little......Raghav  steadied  her...........for  a  brief  second.....Raghav  felt  his  skin  burn........
" come.   Raghav  said........leading  the  way......upstairs......Reshma  followed  closely  .........krish  was  right  behind.............Raghav  opened    the  door  to  Sanjana's  room.....and  there  she  was  lying  in  bed......crying  her   heart  out............Raghav   gestured to  Reshma  to  go  to  Sanjana.........''my  daughter''......he  said  softly..........his  mind  was telling.......''  your  daughter    kalpana........
Reshma  sat  on  the  edge  of  the  bed  and  very  gently  touched  the  little  girl's  head.........the  small   body  stopped  shaking  and  turned   ..and    the  tears  stopped  at  once.......'' mummy.  mummy..she  wailed......i  knew  you  would  come.........''  Sanjana   lunged forward and  hugged     a   startled   Reshma........who   looked  at  Raghav   questioningly....as  why   his  daughter  ..called  her  mummy...
" i will  tell  you  later.... Raghav assured  her.....as  Sanjana  continued  to  hug  Reshma..........'''mummy   my  chester  is  gone....i   want  my  chester  back..............Reshma  threw another  look  at  Raghav..........''    her   dog''.........Raghav   said........
Sanjana  princess.............'' Raghav  called  softly..............It  was  only  then  little   Sanjana  realised  her  daddy  was  also  in  the  room......''thank  you  daddy  ..you  kept  your  promise''      i  love  you  daddy.......the  little  girl  let  go  of  Reshma  and  hugged  her  daddy  and  kissed  him   ........then   rushed  back  into  Reshma's  arms.........Reshma   was  touched  by  the  little  girl"s   affection   towards  her  father......."..you  need  to  sleep......princess........''........tomorrow  we  will look  for  your  doggie''......Raghav... gently  touched  his  daughter's  head...........'''  i  want  mummy  to  sleep  with  me.........,and  you  can  also  sleep  here  daddy.........sanjana  said  gleefully.........Reshma  avoided  Raghav's  eyes......her  cheeks  turned  pink  ............''Mummy  is  tired .......Sanjana......she  needs  to  rest  too..............''sanjana  glared  at  Raghav  and  hugged  Reshma   even  more  closer  to  her.......''please  daddy.......mummy  was  in  heaven for  so  long  ....now  she  has  come  back.....please    daddy......let  mummy  stay  in  my  room......'
Reshma   hugged  the  little  child..........and  smilled.............''..of  course  sweetie.....mummy  will  sleep  here  in  your  bed  and  tell  you  stories.........Raghav  was  surprised  at  her  words.........but  did  not  say  another  word.............Sanjana  began  to  fuss  and    ran  around  her  room  trying  to   prepare  her  messed  up  bed   for  her  mummy.......Reshma  watched  the  little  girl.......''  this  child  had  lost  her  mother......her  innocent  words''Mummy  was  in  Heaven  for  so  long    now  she  has  come  back    had  pierced   Reshma's  heart  for  a few  minutes.........and  that  had  made  Reshma     decide  to  help  the  little  girl  as  much  as  possible............Reshma  put  aside  the  thought  of  what  the  consequence  was  going  to  be  when  she  left  the  house  after  helping  Raghav Gupta......right  now  the  little  girl  needed  motherly  love  and  care....................Mr  Gupta  had  given  her  mother    a  new  life......she  was  out  of  danger....Reshma  was   deeply   obliged  to  help  her    boss................Reshma  tucked   sanjana  in  bed  and   chnged  into  a  comfotable   night  clothes  and  pulled   her  sweater  over  her  and    followed  the  way  she  had  come  upstairs.....the  lights   had  been  switched  off........she  needed  a  glass  of  milk...........she   walked  carefuly.........and  she  came  to   the  side  window.......the  curtains   moved ........   Reshma  stopped  and   peeped  below.....the  garden  was  bathed  in  moonlight.....she   stood   there    for  a  few  minutes................something  behind  her  fell...she  turned  around..................... a  lady  stood    in  front  of  her.....she  dropped  the  glass  she  was  holding   ...and    her  face  turned  pale     as   though  she  had  seen  a  ghost.................Rubina  stood  there  shaking.......the   blood  left  her  face......her  throat  became  dry.....she  tried  to  speak......but   no  words  came  but  only  a  hoarse  cry.........a   whimper  followed.....''  no.... no   it  can't  be.....,this  is  my  imagination..........her  hand  began  to  shake.....her  entire  body  trembled   ...........'...kalpana  is  dead.....''.......saying  these  words   Rubina  fell  on  to  the  carpeted  floor...........Reshma  stood  in  utter  shock.......not  knowing  what  was  going  on.......who  was  this  lady   who  had  just  fainted......?.......................
Raghav  stood in  the  dark  and  witnessed  the  entire   scene..............krish  was  beside  him.................
