Chris’s POV
“I am your Mother’s friend, remember me?” tanung ng isang matandang babae na nasa mga 40’s na. Tumango lang ako. Yes I do remember her, lagi siyang nasa bahay namin noon.
Pagod na ako galing sa school, and hindi ko alam kung bakit siya humaharang sa tabi ko ngayon. “What do you need?” I asked.
“Diba classmate ka ni Samantha?” umupo siyasa tabi ko sa isang bench.
Yeah, that Sammy girl. “Why?” matipid kong sagot.
“Kailangan ko kasing umalis..”
“Wait, bakit ka sakin nagpapaalam, bakit hindi sakanya? Kaano-ano mo ba siya?” naiirita kong tanung.
“She’s my daughter.”
Pero wala naman akong naalala na may anak siya eh.
“I don’t remember you having a child.”
“Yes, because she’s adopted.”
“Now, ano ba talagang kailangan mo?” sabi ko.
“Please live with her, wala na siyang kasama. And I can’t be with her.”
“Irresponsible! You’re just like my parents.” I said while massaging the back of my neck.
“You don’t understand, I am trying to give her the best life, wala na siyang tatay, and Im also trying to save my marriage..”
“The hell do I care?” Im so annoyed.
“Wait, I don’t want you to understand me. It’s just that wala na akong mapagkakatiwala sa anak ko. I may sound irresponsible but when you love someone, you don’t just sit there and do nothing.”
That words. I remembered someone saying that exact words.
“Don’t you love your daughter? And I am an asshole, you can’t just leave your daughter to me. I am a bad person.”
“I love her so much that I wanted to make sure that she will have a complete family. I know you’re not… You are not a bad person... maybe it’s just your way of showing yourself to others. I can see it in your eyes, just like your Mom’s eyes, you are a good person. Take care of my daughter, and I promise after I saved my marriage, I’ll be back.”
“What if I don’t agree?”
“You have to. Please…” lumuhod an siya. I can’t stand a woman begging for something.
“Okay, but what If anything bad happens to her?”
Paano kung may mangayare masama dun? Baka ako pa ang masisi.
“I trust you.” She said while wiping her tears.

“Cousin?” naka-smirk na sabi ni Nard sakin. Hindi ko siya pinansin, humarap lang ako kay Sammy na sobrang laki ng ngiti. Did he like my cousin?
“You better go now.” Pagbabanta ko sakanya.
“Pero Chris, he’s my visitor.” Then she pouted again like a baby.
“Sam, go away to that person. You don’t know him that well.” Sabi niya.
Umalis na lang ako sa harap nila. Nakakatamad. Bahala siya kung ayaw niyang lumbas. Like I care?
