AlexaDreaming
Sitting on my bed, I had my brothers to comfort me. I was 4 years old and was just starting to make sense of the world
Downstairs, I could hear arguing. My mum and dad were fighting again, something about money issues. I didn't really understand it, how can I understand the types of words they're using, when I never normally hear them on a daily basis?
"Alexa, let's go out for a walk to the park!" My oldest brother, Brandon suggested, sitting down next to me and putting an arm around my small body
"Can mummy and daddy come too?" I asked, doing my best puppy-dog eyes, completely oblivious to what was going on
Elliott picked me up and I wrapped myself around him "Let's leave them to sort out whatever is going on, c'mon you can spend time with your brothers"
I nodded and agreed to go with them, Elliott carried me downstairs and to the front door, where he helped me put my shoes on
Mum and dad were in the kitchen shouting. They'd been doing it a lot recently, but Brandon said it's what adults do. I don't know why they are arguing over money, I wish I could help them out, but I don't have any money of my own
We walked the short distance to the park, it was mid-summer and there was an icecream van parked just outside. Elliott had let me walk ahead of the group, and my eyes lit up when I saw the van
"ICE CREAM" I cheered "LOOK BOYS!! I CAN SEE ICECWEAM"
Brandon agreed to letting us have one, and five of us got icecreams, sitting on the bench and eating them before they melted. I chose chocolate, my favourite in the whole world!
"Can mummy and daddy come next time?" I asked
Corey wiped the icecream from my nose "Maybe, we will have to see if they're not busy"
