Standing inside outside the great hall in the evening air Fure just watched as her people began packing their supplies and talking away about the coming change and battle.
She smiled as she watched and spoke softly to herself. “Ah daughter if you could see what your son has accomplished.”
Every now and then a person would come up and ask Fure a question or ask an opinion it was mainly the children of the village. She was right now a make shift leader like she always was. She noticed to her left Samth walking through the snow. She wore the leathers she arrived with and a new long cape that covered her arms. She looked tired and was aimlessly walking towards Fure. As she arrived she smiled faintly and Fure returned a smile. They stood for a second looking at each other before one spoke.
“Samth my child do you have family?”
The question took Samth by surprise but she answered nerveless. “Yes I have my mother, Father and older brother. “
“Do you miss them?”
“Of course, every day.”
“Tell me about them.”
“Why are you interested? Why are you talking to me? I killed him.”
A smile crossed Fure’s old lips “You are the women who captured my stupid grandson’s heart. You are also the one who freed him from his demons. I want to know you.”
Samth couldn’t express the emotion she felt when Fure spoke those words but she smiled. “My father travelled the country, he even travelled other countries before setting up shop in my home town and meeting my mother, they run the local inn there. My brother does what my father did he is much older than me and from another marriage. He is tall with long black hair, when I was young we left to Duth I haven’t seen him since.” She looked up at the great blank sky and smiled. “I don’t know what he would make of this. He always was protective of me.”
“That’s good having family is very important even to us Asura. What are their names?”
“My mother is named Hain, My father is Jmur and my brother is Jmor. I hope to meet them again one day.”
Fure kept her smile on her face and looked at Samth’s sad face. “You will, you are strong you will see them again.”
Both stood in the snow and talked about unimportant things it was nice. They both relaxed and let go of a lot of stress. Hours passed as they talked and remembered the past. Samth was taught what Espex was like as a child an unruly, stubborn boy who had a knack for getting into fights. Samth told Fure how she was she had changed in the time she met Espex and what hope he had given her for the future. As they spoke the sun began to set and Fure looked into the big blue eyes of a very cold Samth and hugged her.
A whisper was thrown into the ear of Samth. “If Dypes does anything to endanger you, or he is walking down a path of no return… kill him.”
Samth pulled away from Samth and just nodded with determined eyes.
“Good lass.”
“Samth lets go.” Shouted Dypes.
Samth nodded at him and gave Fure a hug good bye. Fure watched Samth walk through the snow towards an already walking away Dypes. Fure couldn’t help but think what hardships Samth was about to encounter. Especially with a walking bomb like Dypes. The difference between Espex and Dypes was Dypes was a genius and what he did best was manipulate.
Talking to herself Fure spoke gently. “Oh Dypes, anything happens to that girl… I will kill you myself.” Her old injured hand wrapped in a ball.
