The room the king entered was bright but dirty. The flashing of blue light irritated his old eyes and the sound of snapping all around him bothered his old ears but a smile was plastered across his face never the less. He was in his lab, a basement of his great castle solely for future experiments with magic. In this very large room anti-magic armour was fashioned. The very armour to block Haya’s light magic was also made here. The new experiment that was taking place was a lot more sinister.
A group of men wearing large white coats all stood around a table talking to each other and tinkering with whatever was on it. They whispered in such a fast fashion it could be considered a totally unique language to these people.
As the king approached them they seemed to be arguing about the specifics of the object on the table. Still hidden from view the king had no idea what it was. The king wore large blue armour that protected him from neck downwards. He wore a large white cape that trailed behind him, impractical in battle but gave an impression of his grandeur when he approached.
“Gentlemen what have you to show me?” asked the king as his voice boomed around the flashing room.
Once they heard him all the men knelt down and praised their king.
One of the scientists stood up he was completely bald and had a large scar across his mouth almost like an impossible large smile.
“Your Sire, I have great news, I display this to you.” The scientist who spoke was Rey a veteran of the king’s royal research team. Pointing to the table lay a naked body. A perfectly chiselled body in its prime. “As you can see the face is completely blank we have made it so once the soul is transplanted into the body the facial structures will break into place and you will look how you did when you were in your prime.”
“The king walked over to Rey and put his hand on his shoulder with a great smile the king spoke. “You have done me proud Rey. Today your name will go down in history as the man who created immortality.”
Putting his head down. “You are too kind sire! I do this for you and peace!”
“No we do this for peace! With this new body I will be able to go on the front lines once more.”
“Sire is that wise the battleground is no place for you?” said one of Rey’s fellow scientists.
Coext simple smiled and replied “I am no better than my men who die for peace why should I be protected? No I need to be there with them. Skov has been without my legend long enough its time it’s reminded of it.”
“Sire we can start the transfusion as soon as you like, it may take a while to get used to the body, we have enchanted it so you are stronger than any average human.” Added Rey.
“Good, Set it up for later tonight I will inform my queen, how is hers getting on?”
“The Queens will take longer as she has asked to have extra things implanted into hers,”
“And that is?” asked Coext with a puzzled and amused face.
“Can’t say under her orders I am afraid. Sorry.” Rey said as he lowered his head.
A laugh came from Coext's old mouth and he walked away. “Fine, Fine I like surprises.”
As the king left the room one of the younger members or the team turned to Rey. “What legend is our Sire talking about?”
Rey turned in surprise. “Haven’t you heard? Our king in his day was the sword saint. There is one a generation the current one is Set. Our king was undefeated and was capable of using any and all weapons, Coext used to wonder Skov before being named King looking for fights for being a sword saint he only ever used a large wooden stick. He said what was the point killing his enemies if they couldn’t face defeat and better themselves.”
