Another tremendous boom as another great slingshot of rock hit the white walls of Gord. Flakes of the white stone dropped off and smashed into the earth below. Ladders were placed on the walls and whites wearing white climbed up them. Below thousands of knights readied for their turn on the ladder. Screaming was all that could be heard with the break of an explosion every now and then.
Inside the walls of Gord civilians run around in panic as the city guard ordered people to shelters. Mage jumping from roof top to roof top running towards the walls and great gate. Atop the great walls mage stood shooting down magic of every class. Large fireballs, great ice spikes and waves of lightning. Every class was on the wall protecting their great city. One mage on the wall shot down a large fireball that exploded into hundreds of small ones. Only a few knights were able to put up their anti magic shield in time. Others not so lucky.
Ladders kept getting kicked down or destroyed by the protecting mage. The walls too high for the archers to get to. The great gate shut and bolted the only way into Gord. Even the small path that Espex once used to escape the walls now guarded and protected.
Weeks had gone by and this stalemate kept going, for every mage they got nearly a hundred knights perished.
On the enemy side of the battle stood Jaq one of the highest ranked knights in all of Skov. His face hidden in his large white helmet.
“This is getting annoying.” He said with his calm and gentle voice. “We need something big to push through that door.”
All around him stood his army yet they were useless to the giant doors.
“Like a puddle of water moving a rock.” Jaw said as he thought to himself.
“Good words Jaq.”
Jaq turned and in shock bowed to the ground. “Sire!”
Standing in front of Jaq was King Coext but with a difference. He was young, strong and no longer had a beard. Short hair at the side and long spikes on top he held a smile on his face. He couldn’t be more than twenty eight. His armour new and loose. White with blue runes all across it and a large red cape from his back. On his left a sword with a strange red cloth coming from the handle.
“As you can see the transfusion was a complete success.” Looking down at the amazed Jaq he smiled “Rise, I am here to help. I brought reinforcements.”
Jaq turned to see a sight he could not believe he missed. A large army more than ten thousand strong marching towards the white gates. With them a large metal battling ram the size of many houses.
“Today this war ends and with you at my side it will be quick.” Patting Jaq on his shoulder the king moved forward towards the wall.
A Mage burst into Tate as he was eating in the great hall. Panic in his eyes and fear in his voice.
“Master! Tens of thousands of knights, the king, battering ram!” no time for full sentences just panic and the key words.
A sigh left the old man’s mouth as he dropped his spoon into his lovely chicken soup.
“Report to all titled mage, tell them to protect key areas, tell my guard what to do.” Calm as ever he looked at his assistant ever faithful always present. “I need you to do this for me while I make preparation.”
Sitting on his large wooden chair that sprouted a tree he looked around the now empty hall and smiled. “Today it ends.”
Hours later…
