Miranda's pov

Me and Sierra were hanging out before she had to go home since the tour was over. I hugged her tight. "Man I'm gonna miss you." I say. "Don't you worry. I only live an hour from Nashville." "I know but it's just not the same." Brittany drives her home and I sit on the front steps wishing my dad didn't leave. I wanna find out why he hates me being a singer. I'm doing this not just because it's my dream but because I wanna prove to him I can. I lean against the garage and call him. "Dad, do you have time to talk?" "Yeah." "Why do you hate me wanting to be a singer?" He sighs and goes quiet. "Dad?" "You're wasting your damn life! There's no way this'll last. You'll just play for a little while then everyone will forget about you!" My eyes go wide in shock. "No they won't!" I screech in tears. "I'm doing this for you dad!!! To show you I have what it takes!!!!" "WELL YOU DON'T!" He hangs up and the phone slips from my hand. I fell to my knees sobbing when Jason got back from the studio. "Whoa, what happened?" He gasps, running over. I struggle to stop crying so I can tell him but I'm crying too hard to do that. He helps me up and we go inside. I cried against him for hours before I could talk again. "My dad..... He says.... Everyone will forget about me... I don't.... Have what it takes." I choke out, hyperventilating. "What?! That's crazy! I can't believe he'd say that. Sweetheart you won't be forgotten. You're one of the best singers since Dolly Parton." I fight to keep from crying again. "Why does he treat me like that?" He puts a hand under my chin, making me look up. "I hope it won't upset you if I say this but your dad's a no good asshole. He doesn't deserve a wonderful, intelligent, beautiful talented daughter like you. Don't you ever listen to him. You're perfect just the way you are. Don't change for nobody." I smile. He wipes a tear off my cheek. "I've been wanting to tell you something for a few days now." "What?" I ask. "I wanna.... Hm... How should I say this... Me and Britt wanna adopt you." My eyes go wide. "R-R-Really?" He smiles. "Yeah. We already talked to your mom. She agrees with us." I fight back the tears. I finally have a real dad. "I wanna be your dad, sweetheart." I hug him and cry softly. "Thank you... So much." I whimper, trying not sob again and failing. He holds me tight and rubs my back. "There there princess, let it out." I finally have a supportive caring father.
