Miranda's pov
I was recording some songs in the studio. I was still working on finishing writing the song I'm writing about mom. Mike and dad walk in. "Good job. That was amazing!" My wonderful adoptive dad says. I walk over. "Thanks." Me and dad head home. There was a note on the fridge. "It's from Britt. She went to the salon." "Ok. I'm gonna go upstairs and work on a new song." He looks up from the note. "New song?" I smile. "Yep." I race upstairs. A few minutes later, dad opens the door. "Need any help?" I blush. "It's a surprise. You can't see it til I finish it." He smiles. Just then mom gets back and my phone rings. I glance down at my phone and my face turns white. "M-My dad!" I gasp. His eyes go wide too. "Don't answer it." I swipe ignore and swallow my nerves. "I wish he'd stop pestering me." I mutter. "You and me both darlin'." My phone rings and this time it's Mo. I answer it instantly. "Hey Mo!" I gasp, smiling excitedly. Dad laughs and walks out. "So what song are you gonna play at the awards." He asks. "A song daddy wrote for me." "Are you gonna tell me the title?" He asks laughing. I laugh too. "Well we wrote it together. It's called girls. You'll see what it is when we get to the awards next week. What are you singing?" "A boy and a girl thing. The song I wrote for and about my wonderful girlfriend." He makes my hands tingle. Mom got back home which made me remember the song I still haven't finished. Ugh. Will I ever figure out what to write next? I run downstairs after getting off the phone with Mo. Mom and dad were talking. About me. "If he messes with her again, I'll personally tell him what for!" He mutters angrily. I bite my lip. "He can't do anything. He's six hours away. We have nothing to worry about." Mom says. "Right?" She asks, worriedly. "Of course baby. She's our little girl now." I shakily open the door. They look worried. "Um... D-Dad could you teach me the chords to our song?" "Which one's that sweety?" "The one I'm playing at the awards. Girls." He smiles. "Of course." Mom gets started on dinner and we work on the song. "It feels so empty when Keely and Kendyl aren't here." I mumble. "It's okay. They're only a twenty minute drive away. If ya want we can go visit them." I smile. He smiles too. "They're watching the awards too." I'm so excited!
*one week later*
We were about to leave for the awards when my other mom, the one from oxford calls me. I still love my mom. It's just my dad that doesn't care. She says she's in Nashville! I lower the phone, my pulse racing. "Dad!" I call. "What's wrong?" He gasps, walking in. "My mom called and said she's in Nashville!" "Oh. I know. I invited her to the awards." "You did?" He nods. "I mean she is still your mom and she does care about your dream." I smile. "Thanks." He smiles too and we share a hug.
*later*
"Ladies and gentlemen, presenting one of the newest faces in country music, Miranda Aldean to sing her first single Girls! I nervously clutch my guitar, glancing back at mom and dad. "You got this honey." Dad says. I smile and run out onstage. "Imagine a fighter with a centerfold face, comes from a long line of blue collars and lace, with a grip like reigns to a steed and kisses for days and imagine a winner holding pink champagne who still loves her daddy but changes her name. An overachiever, even she don't believe her own fame. You can't change her mind! Even if you wanted to! You can always try! She'll see through you. If you think.... You're the only one.... She wants..... In this world, then you.... Don't know nothin'..... About girls. Imagine your best friend and your worst enemy, begs you to stay then wishes you'd leave, like Marilyn Monroe she can be who you want her to be!" While I sing this song, my mind flashes back to a time long ago.
~flashback~
I just wanted someone to love me. I was dating this boy. His name was Andrew. He got so mad when I said I was waiting til marriage. I came home and cried for hours. The next day I went back to him and said I'd do it. All for the sake of being in love. But by then, he had already left me for another. I was too late.
~flashback over~
"You can't change her mind! You can always try. If you think.... You're the only one... She'll want in this world.... then you.... Don't know nothin'.... About girls." I lower the guitar, feeling the tears on my cheeks. The cheers of the fans were loud. "Thank you!" I cry gladly. I run backstage right into my daddy's arms. "You were amazing out there baby girl." "I couldn't have done it without you." I gasp, gladly. He smiles then both my moms, Brittany and my birth mom walk over. "Oh Miranda I'm so proud of you! I knew you'd be the best singer ever!" My birth mom says. I hug her tight. That was the greatest night of my life. "And album of the year nominees are Eric Church for Mr. Misunderstood, Brantley Gilbert for just as I am, Jason Aldean for they don't know, Blake Shelton for if I'm honest, and Carrue Underwood for Storyteller." Dad stares at the stage in anticipation, holding Brittany's hand. "And the winner is Jason Aldean, they don't know!" "YES!" He gasps, pumping a fist in the air. "I put my heart and soul into that record!" He runs onstage.
Jason's pov
"I want to thank my broken bow crew, everyone who helped record, who wrote the great songs on this record. My kickass roadcrew. I can't say this enough, my fans, they are the best in the business. You guys make it possible to make amazing records that you love. My wonderful wife Brittany, she's my world. And our three girls, without them, I'd be nowhere near how happy I am. Thanks everyone for letting a crazy Georgia boy live his dream." I wave to the clapping crowd and walk backstage. "You deserved it dad." Miranda says. I smile and hug her. "Thanks darlin'." I kiss my wife and a boy that looks a little familiar walks over. "Hey Sean!" Miranda says hugging him. Oh her older brother. "You did great out there. Did you write that yourself?" She smiles. "Me and dad." They hug again. Just then Mo walks over and shakes my hand. "Congrats." "Thanks."
