Miranda's pov

I was messaging my best friend Sierra about the Rodney Atkins concert I was heading to in SouthHaven from my smalltown of Oxford Mississippi. "Have fun." She texts back. I smile and grab my purse. I give my mom the other ticket and we head to the bankplus amphitheater. I was excitedly waiting in line. I haven't been this nervous in all my 20 years. I got up there and Rodney signed my lyric booklet. "Thanks." I say, my voice shaking from nerves. He smiles and we pose for a picture then I walk out to get ready to watch him perform. As I'm heading to the pit, I bump into his opener, Mo Pitney! "Wow! Hey!" I say, smiling. "Hey." He says, waving. "Wow, I'm a big fan." I say. He smiles. "I see you're a fan of Rodney too." I laugh. "Of course." My mom joined me and struck up a conversation with the famous singer. I heard her embarassingly tell him about my super fannism to the singer Jason Aldean. Man, moms can be embarassing! I chuckle awkwardly. "Alright mom, I think we've taken up enough of his time!" I gasp. "Actually we've got several hours til the concert. Hey follow me. I wanna show ya something." Wow! I am even more nervous now! I follow Mo to a huge covered room. AC blowing because of this hot summer's day. I try to adjust to the darkness and to my shock I see Jason!!!!! He's talking to his producer Micheal Knox! "Go say hello!" Mom says, resting a hand gently on my back. I'm beyond nervous. My legs shaking. They have a mind of their own as I walk over. He was having a conversation with Micheal and I didn't want to interrupt. I glance back at my mom. She makes the motion with her hands of go! I take a deep breath. I was about to speak when he turned around and my throat went dry. "Hello?" I swallow nervously. "I um hi.... My name's Miranda. I'm a huge fan." I shakily say, wiping the sweat off my hand and extending it. He smiles and shakes it. "Pleased to meet ya ma'am." The handsome good mannered 38 year old says. I close my eyes, prepared to tell him what I've always wanted to say.

"In fact, Jason, I wouldn't be standing here if it wasn't for you." I'm confused. "What do ya mean, darlin'?" She's super nervous and shaky. "Well... I... This is hard for me to say but... I had depression, really bad depression to the point of suicide... I have this friend. Her name's Sierra. She's my best friend and I met her through your music. She convinced me not to kill myself. Without you, I never woulda met her and I'd be dead right now." Whoa. "My God, I'm shocked." I gasp. "I-I'm sorry... I hope I didn't freak you out." "No ya didn't. It's okay." Man, this poor girl.

I can't believe I just told him everything. "I'm really glad ya didn't kill yourself." He says. I wipe my eyes. "Thanks." I say, fighting back becoming a crying mess. I have a feeling mom is crying behind me. "But the biggest thing is... I've never even met Sierra. I've only ever talked to her over the internet." I say. "Wow. You're incredible." I'm confused now. "I am?" He smiles. "To have gotten through all that and then to be able to tell me, it takes guts." He hugs me, catching me off guard. "Thanks for telling me." "You're the best." I say, returning the hug. He smiles and Micheal walks over. I wave slightly. "It's always been my dream to be a singer. Music is my life." I say, smiling. My mom lays a hand on my shoulder.

Me and Mike exchange looks. He smiles. He knows what I'm thinking. She's been through so much I wanna do something cool. "Why don't ya show us what ya got?" Mike says. Her eyes go wide. "M-Me? Sing for you guys?" I nod. "Let's hear ya, girl." I say, resting my hands on my hips. "Don't be nervous." Mike says. The woman beside her hugs her. "You can do this." She says. She smiles and nods. I can't wait to hear her sing.
