Miranda's pov

We were on tour with Cole Swindell and Tyler Farr for dad's burnin' it down tour. Cole is an up and coming singer too. He's 23. I lean against the wall, humming songs like this. That's one of my favorite songs. Cole walks over. "Hey you're Miranda right? Jason's daughter?" I nod and smile. "Can I take you out for a drink tonight after the show?" My eyes go wide. "I.... I don't know, Cole. I just got out of a bad relationship." "I'm not asking you out or anything. I just wanna get to know you a little better." I'm nervous. "As long as you don't make any moves on me." He laughs softly and shakes his head. "What's going on over here?" I hear dad ask. I look over Cole's shoulder. He wipes the sweat off his face. "Nothin' me and Cole were just talkin'." I say. "Well you're up sweetheart." He says smiling. I smile too and tie my hair in a pony tail and head to the stage.

Cole's pov

"Leave her alone Cole. I heard you ask her for drinks." Uh oh. "I'm not making moves on her, I promise." "You better not. That girl's been through too much. She doesn't need to add another heartbreak to that." Man. "You're a really good dad for her, Jason." He smiles. "She's my little girl."

Miranda's pov

After the show, I meet up with Cole at the buses. I'm super nervous about this. "Please Cole, I know you said you weren't but I just have to restate it. No trying anything. I'm not a girl you want to get in a relationship with anyway." "I'm not trying anything. I promise. But why do you say that?" "I don't wanna talk about it." I miss Mo. I wish things didn't go south. I loved that boy with  all my heart. Before we even head to the bar, I break down in tears. "Oh Mo! Why do you hate me?!" I sit on the ground sobbing.

Jason's pov

Man am I exhausted. Where's Miranda?! Oh wait. She's hanging with Cole. Man if that boy- My thoughts are cut short when the door to the bus opens and Miranda walks up crying followed by Cole. "What'd you do?!" "He didn't do anything! I started thinking about Mo and it made me sad." "I guess I'll see y'all at the next show then." Cole says waving. I roll my eyes. Boys. I wish they'd just leave her alone. "You alright?" "I just... I miss Mo. We were so close then... I lost the baby.... We'd still be together if I didn't lose the baby!" I hug her tightly. "That's not true. Mo just wasn't right for you. He's not grown up enough for you."

*a few days later*

She was playing onstage. She launched into her newest song, not on record yet. "Wanna find some boy, rip his heart right out. First boy I see I'm gonna take him down! It ain't the Christian thing.... To do they say..... But someone somewhere's gotta pay! And if it wasn't for guys like you there wouldn't be songs like this! And if you hadn't gone and done me wrong I wouldn't go off like this!" "Damn would she really do that?" Cole gapes shocked. I laugh softly. "I dunno. Ask her. She wrote that song binge drinking after the fuck up with Mo." "What happened?" "That isn't my story to tell, kid." "Do you really want me to ask her about it?" I glare at him. "No. It ain't none of your damn business anyway." "Jeez I'm just makin' conversation." Darn it. "I'm sorry Cole. I'm just.... A little overprotective after all that shit with Mo." I tell him everything about what happened. "Dang no wonder she's so nervous about dating!" I nod staring at her onstage. "There wouldn't be songs like this one. That tell the world...just how much of a jerk you are!" Cole is definitely surprised. "She's sure good at songwriting." He says. "I bet she gets it from her dad." He then smiles at me. I glance at him. "You're talkin' about me?" He nods. "Duh!" I sigh. "Actually she's adopted. Her real dad's a selfish uncaring dipshit. She almost killed herself and he was pissed that we called him up and interrupted him being at work!" "Damn you ain't kiddin'!" He gapes shocked. I nod, ticked just thinking about that sorry sack of crap. "Well it's lucky for her." Huh? "What?" I ask confused. "She's lucky to have you as her dad now. At least she's got a kind smart guiding dad to help her survive the music world." That only makes me think of her deadbeat dad putting her down. But I shouldn't think of that. "If anything Cole I'm the lucky one. That girl brings so much happiness into my life." "Hey Cole, I know you like her." His eyes go wide and he looks away red faced. "I... I kinda do but... I don't wanna go for it til she's over her break up." "Ya know what'll help her do that?" I ask, crossing my arms with a smile. "What?" He asks. "A good caring man to show her how a lady's supposed to be treated." "Wait.... Are you saying.... Go after her?" "I'm saying treat her right or I'll crush you like I did Mo." "Duely noted." He gasps wide eyed.

Miranda's pov

"Yeah you got every guy in here. Spinnin' around spillin' their beer. I bet you came out to have a good time. So what you say you leave your friends with mine? Ooh, ooh, they'll be alright, ooh, I just wanna see you shine." I spin around confused as Cole walks out. He smiles at me. "Girl you're tearin' that dance floor up, lemme see ya do it in the bed of my truck, ya sure know how to shake it alright, lemme see ya do it in the Tennessee moonlight. Whoa oh baby let's go, down a little road nobody else knows. Just me and you parked on the edge of the world, that's how I wanna see ya girl! Oh lemme see ya girl!" What the heck's he doing?! He grabs my hand, spinning me around. I can't help but laugh with how free I feel. "Wow Cole what was all that about?" "Just havin' some fun." He says, sounding nervous. I get it. Cole likes me. I'm scared to give my heart out again. I don't want it torn apart.

Cole's pov

"I know what's going on here Cole." My eyes go wide. "Y-Ya do?" I gasp worried. She smiles. "And I kinda like it." Whoa. "Um, ya wanna go back to my bus?" She nods. I radio Tyler to take over and I grab her hand. We pass right by her dad and he gives me that watch yourself look. I take her back to my bus where I kiss her softly. "I know exactly what you need." I whisper against her beautiful soft skin. "And what's that, Mr. Swindell?" "A good man." She smiles. "Is that what I'm gonna find with you?" "Yeah." She smiles. "You better be, boy." She kisses me and basically drags me into the bus where we collapse into the bed together.
