SIMON OR JACE?
"HOW DID THAT GET THERE?" CLARY ASKED. She pointed at the black marking on her neck when she looked in the mirror. My eyes widened when I saw the same looking tattoo from Jace's arm. "I drew that." Jace said, grinning. "Okay, listen," Clary said, placing her hands on the bed post.
"I still don't get everything that's going on here, but you do not tattoo my neck. That's creepy."
"Duly noted. I guess next time I'll just let you die. And it's not a tattoo, it's a rune."
" They have enormous power. Good for Shadowhunters, lethal for humans. But you, you already knew all about runes, don't you?" Jace asked us. He looked at Clary's sketch book. "Maybe you don't. Which is what makes you both so interesting. Clary, and Bella Fray. Anyway, I saw something behind your friend."
"You're not going to kill Simon, are you?" I asked him.
"Protect the humans, kill the demons. You'll both get it eventually."
"So... why can't Simon see you?" Clary asked.
We started walking outside. "This is a glamour. A rune that makes me invisible to mundane's." Jace explained. "It's a shame, really...denying all of this," Jace said, moving his hand up and down meaning he has a good body. I mean, he's not wrong. I laughed.
"What do you have on, Clary?" Simon asked her when we got outside into the cold air.
"Let me take you home." "I don't think Bella and I have a home anymore..." Clary said. I frowned, tears stinging my eyes. "Why? What do you mean?"
"Well..." "Clary, Bella Fairchild!" A man yelled from behind us.
I gasped and hung onto Clary's arm. Jace started fighting the guy. "Clary, Bella, what's going on?" Simon asked. "What are you looking at?" He must not see the fight, so it might be very weird for him to not be able to see something that we're looking at.
"If you give us the girls I'll let you live!" The man yelled.
Clary gasped. "You're in no position to be making rules!" Jace yelled. "Clary? Bella?" Simon said, still not knowing what's going on here. "We'll never stop hunting them." "This is for my Father." He stabbed the man in the back with his sword. "Jace!" I yelled.
"Excuse me?"
"Is he dead?" I asked, pointing at the man on the ground.
"Is who dead? Bella, what are you talking about?"
"What the..." The man appeared on the ground.
"Could you deglamorize or whatever so my best friend doesn't think we're insane?" Next thing I know Jace was standing there burning himself with his stele. "Clary, who is this? Your meth dealer?" Simon asked. "Wait, I've seen him before." I pointed out at the man who was lying on the ground.
"Yeah, he was at the police station." Clary said, remembering him as well. "He's a member of the circle, Bella. He's here for you and your sister." Jace said. "He's with the people who took our Mother." I said. "Right, and your little best friend here lead him to you guys." Jace said, glancing at Simon. "There's a dead body there, we have to call Luke." Simon said, his first instinct was to pull out his phone. My eyes widened. I smacked the phone out of his hand, and it dropped to the ground. "We can't trust Luke, Simon. We can't." I said.
"Clary, Bella, I need to keep you safe." Jace said, "I promise you, I promise that'll I'll help you find your Mother. But you're one of us, a Shadowhunter."
"What are you talking about?" Simon asked. "You don't know this guy at all."
"Come with me. I can help." Jace said. "Clary, please." Jace said. "Clary, Bella. Come on." Simon said. Which do I choose? Simon our best friend, the person who's been there for me since day one? Or Jace, the mysterious blonde boy who seems to know a lot about Clary and I?
