OUR MOTHER IS ALIVE

I WAS STANDING NEXT TO CLARY. I gaped my mouth open as Jace held up the necklace that Mom gave Clary. "And he spoke to you?" Jace asked.

He then looked over at me, and stared at my neck.

"Bella, give me yours." My eyes widened, smacking his hand away. "What, no!"

"Bella, stop being so damn stubborn-"

"He said my name," Clary said. "Who said that?" Alec asked, he walked over to us.

"Valentine." Clary and I both said at the same time.

"He's with our Mother!" I freaked. "And he can speak to you through that necklace?" Alec asked Clary. Clary nodded. "Here in the institute?" "It's just like when Bella and I could see Dot." Clary explained. "Bella, give yours to me." Alec said.

I scoffed. "No."

"Bella-"

"No."

"Bella, stop being so damn stubborn and give me the necklace," Alec said, holding out his hand.

"No!" I said, even louder.

"Dammit, Bella. Just give it to Alec. It's a Portal shard." Jace said. "A what now?" I asked, raising my eyebrows.

"Bella, give Alec the necklace." Clary said. "What?" I stomped my foot. "You guys suck!" I ripped the necklace off of my neck and handed it to Alec. I frowned. That was the only way to see my Mother and now it's gone. "This is why your guises Mother made sure you had it." Jace said. "All I know is what I saw.." Clary said, "Our Mother is alive." Tears filled my eyes. "She's unconscious but alive." "Where are they?" Alec asked. "I don't know." Clair stammered.

"But you said you saw them? Were there any identifying characteristics? Equipment, weapons, pictures?" Alec asked clary. "I don't remember. It was awful." "Alec, lighten up." Jace said.

"I'm trying to get something so we can get use out of this. Clary, what did you see, exactly?"

"Valentine has our Mother, that's what I saw!"

"Emotions are nothing but a distraction. You're ruled by them. We're taught to control them," Alec told Clary. I sighed. "Yeah, and how's that working out for you?" Clary asked Alec. Her eyes flickered to mine then Alec's. "It is my job to protect the institute. If Valentine can see in, then that's a door I have to shut." Alec explained. "Now, let me take a look at those things." Alec said to Jace.

"Now they are in the proper hands," Alec said, walking away from us. My eyes widened.

"Hey!" I shouted. Clary and I ran after Alec.

"Alec, where are you going?" I asked. I followed him up the steps to the training centre. "To put this somewhere safe, Bella. Where no one could be tempted to use it." He said. "We should use it," Clary scoffed, "If I were Valentine, I'd make you think that you could rescues Jocelyn." "Alec, we should use it." Jace said. "And then I'd lure Clary and Bella to me and leverage them for the Cup," Jace said. I jumped up. "I like Jace's idea!" I pointed out. "Yeah. I mean, we saved Simon from the Vampires that way." Clary said.

"Yeah, Vampires."

"Valentine is the real threat." Alec said to Clary and I. I sighed, running a hand through my hair and watched Alec put the necklaces away into the 'safe place' and frowned. "Whatever, leave it there." Alec said to Clary and I. Then he walked away.

"Bella, come with me," Alec said.

I sighed. "Fine."
