Chapter IV

*Spencer's POV*

I storm into my moms house hoping someone is in to let my anger out on.

"Hello?!" I shout into the empty kitchen. I hear some shuffling around before Melissa walks down the stairs.

"Mum is not in for her operation today!" I bawl. I can't believe she would tell that.

"Oops, my bad." She smirks. I really want to slap her right now.

"You lied to me to make me feel bad! You know I'm busy with college at the moment!" All I can see is red right now.

"It was an honest mistake," she says calmly. Is she kidding me on?

"No it wasn't Melissa. You know how important college is to me!"

"Family is important as well!" Melissa screams.

"You used our mothers illness to make me feel bad!" I feel like I'm about to explode.

"Spencer?" Jonny's voice calls from the front door. He looks confused and concerned for both me and Melissa. "What's happening?" He says in a very demanding tone. He's glaring at Melissa and takes a step in front of me.

"Nothing much. I'll leave you two alone," Melissa says before walking back up the stairs.

Jonny turns to face me. His features are full of concern and I just wrap my arms around his waist and cry into his shoulder.

"What happened?" He whispers into my hair. He wraps his arms around me and kisses the top of my head.

"Just hold me," I sob into his chest.

*Toby's POV*

I make my way back to my apartment when the clock hits five. Ever since Veronica left a couple of hours ago my head has been pounding.

I know I should have been more careful. I'm just a massive screw up.

After 'that night' Veronica said the only way to repay her was to do what she told me to.

My first job was to break up with Spencer which killed me inside. We had only been together for a year. The worst part was I had to break up with her the day after her father died.

The next job was to stay away from her family. I done that. I stayed out of contact. I got a new phone and number. I deleted all my contacts to I didn't have any temptation to call Spencer.

The next job was just given to me last week, to steal files for Veronica from the station. Veronica's case was loosing and she needed some evidence to prove her client wasn't guilty. I got to scared and never done it and now Veronica is close to telling everyone what I done.

Spencer and I have been broken up for two years and we have never really spoken until today. I didn't realise that was her car. I have been trying to avoid her for two years and the first time I see her she still affects me.

I'm in big trouble is Veronica finds out that I spoke to Spencer today.
