*Spencer's POV*
"So, when is this ball thing your making me go to?" I ask at the kitchen table. Toby made an amazing curry that I've already had one full bowl of. I'm already in my second.
"Next week," he says with a mouth full. He must be kidding me.
"Next week? What am I meant to wear?" I panic. I can't go to a rich kid party with any of the clothes I own.
"I've already told my mom the only way I will go is if she pays for my suit. I'm sure she will pay for your dress as well," he answers coolly, stabbing his forking into another piece of chicken.
"I can't just ask your mom to buy me a dress," I remark, putting down my fork. His mom didn't mind me when we went out in high school but I don't know how she'll react if she finds out we are back together.
"Spencer, I've already told her we are back together. I told her on the phone," he says as if he just read my mind. "She said you are good for me and that she is happy for me. Don't worry," he replies, putting his empty hand over mine on the table.
Did Marion actually say that? I can't help but smile.
"Really? She said that about me?" I ask, surprised that someone is happy about us being together.
"Yes. I think she likes you more than she likes me," he chuckles, grabbing my plate and taking it to the sink.
I grab the newspaper from the other side of the table and start to flick through it.
It isn't till I look up that I see Toby staring at me, a smile plastered on his face.
"What is it?" I ask, my cheeks starting to burn.
"Just looking at you," he states. "I think I know why my mom likes you so much,"
"Why?"
"Because you seem to shut me up by just reading a paper. I get mesmerised by you," he remarks, walking to the TV and turning it on.
