*Spencer's POV*

I set my alarm ten minutes earlier for today. Toby didn't leave till one this morning and I really didn't want to sleep in.

I kept tossing and turning all night after Toby told me he bought me a ring. I kept thinking about what my life would be like right now if we had never broken up. I don't know what to think.

"I did love you" he said to me. It keeps replaying in my head. Of course he loved me but I had doubted it over the last two years. Over two years ago he broke up with me. They've been the longest two years of my life.

I'm now ten minutes early to meet Aria, Hanna and Emily at The Brew. I don't mind people watching though.

As I watch the men and woman enter and leave the small coffee shop one man catches my eye. I try to turn around so he doesn't see me.

I'm not ready to face Toby yet after yesterday. I'm still shocked.

Our eyes lock in the most awkward way. He looks away quickly and leaves the shop with his coffee in his hand.

I watch him leave the shop and stop at a beautiful girl outside. She's smiling and laughing at something he said.

Hanna walks past him and says hi, taking his attention away from the woman. A few minutes later Hanna comes walking into the coffee shop.

"Hey! Toby's outside. Did you see him?" She questions.

"No, I didn't!" I pretend that I never saw him just two minutes ago.

"Aw well he's flirting with that girl," she chuckles "and he's not doing that good of a job"

"He was never that good at flirting," I laugh.

"Well that girl looks so uninterested" she points out. "Look, she's walking away,"

"And now he's waking in. Well done Hanna" I whisper, nudging her arm.

Toby walks in with Aria and Emily behind him. Here we go.

"Hey Toby," Hanna cheers. "I saw you flirting with that girl out there," she laughs.

"Didn't really work out," he chuckles.

"Hey," I say to Aria and Em. "You two are late,"

"Sorry, slept in," Aria admits.

"So did I," Toby mumbles looking at me. Damn it Toby, shut up!

"How come?" Emily asks Toby. Crap.

"Just a long night last night" he admits, still looking at me.

"What happened?" Aria asks, noticing the way Toby's looking at me.

"Someone tried to set fire to Spencer's neighbours apartment" Toby says. "Nothing big"

"No it was big." I say looking at him in the eye. "They were so close to catching the man who committed the crime but someone interrupted it all," I state.

"Well I'm glad they did interrupt it when they did," Toby fires back.

"I'm not though!" I shout. I know this isn't about the police thing anymore. This is about Toby and I's conversation afterwards. "If they hadn't interrupted us then maybe you could have explained more!" I yell. Toby is glaring at me. Everyone in The Brew has turned their attention to us and Hanna, Aria and Emily are giving us a very confused look.

"Can I speak to you outside please?" I ask Toby after a moment of silence.

We both walk out of the coffee shop and to the side walk on our left.

"What was that?" I ask.

"What was that? I'm sorry that you started it," he says.

"Well you started it last night," I fire back.

"I can't believe this," he sighs. "You think I meant to tell you about the ring?" He asks.

"I don't know,"

"I didn't. Then I saw Yvonne outside, a girl who I've been wanting to speak to for over a year, but I've been to scared to. I go up to her and all I can compare her to is you. It really pisses me off" he says, running a hand through his hair as he paces up and down the side walk.

I just watch him as he fights a battle within himself.

"That's not my fault," I begin. "Do you think it's easy to compare everyone to you. My boyfriend Jonny has said 'I love you' to me three times already. THREE. But I can't say it back because every time I go to say it back, I think of you," I stamp my foot onto the ground in frustration.

"It's been two years," he mumbles. "And guess what"

"What?" I repeat, frustration still laced into my voice.

"I still have the ring" he laughs. "Sad, isn't it? It's sad that after these years I still have the ring". It's one of they pathetic laughs. He's laughing at himself and I really don't understand why.

"Why are you laughing?" I whisper.

"Because I don't have the guts to take that stupid ring back. I have to look at it every damned day and it reminds me of the fact you aren't lying in my bed with me. You aren't thinking of me when you wake up in the morning and when you go to sleep because your with that guy, who I'm sorry to say, looks like he smokes weed and gets his clothes from the trash. And do you know what......"

I don't know why but to shut him up I pressed my lips against his.

His lips just mould into mine. The way he kisses me makes me feel like home. It only lasted for a couple of seconds but it was like we went back in time to high school.

I can't think of anyone who could kiss me the way Toby does.

Jonny.

Jonny.

I pull away quickly and race off to my car. I can hear Toby shout my name as I jump into my car and speed off down the road.
