21st Century Girl

The sun rays were shining through the window but then again, what's new? I woke up on Monday. The week of my birthday. I still can't believe how fast time flies. I walked into the kitchen to grab some breakfast before heading out to work.

Walking into the office of the hospital, I turned on the light.

"Surprise! Happy early birthday Y/N!" came loud voices of all different pitches.

"Goodness!" I screamed in surprise.

"Here's a cake for you, some presents and a rose," said Dylan.

"Aw thank you!"

"Sooo...we bought you a ticket to South Korea! We all know how much you've wanted to go there even since you were young and we all pitched in for a ticket. Aren't you excited?" asked Ro.

"Wow...Thank you. You guys are amazing! I don't know what to say."

"That's not even the best part. We also bought you a ticket to BTS' fan meeting! It just so happens to be on your birthday! Ugh you're so lucky!" said Ro.

"And guess who's coming with you?" asked Raina.

"Me and April!" she screamed.

"Oh my goodness!! Let's go! South Korea, we are ready for you!" I said screaming.

Hand in hand, we all jumped around in a circle gleefully.

"Wait, what about work? I haven't even requested it off or anything. I can't leave," I said.

"Girl you need to start living! You make me ashamed to be a 21st century girl," Ro said laughing.

"We already got you covered. Don't worry, we planned out every single detail already so relax," said Raina.

"You girls are the best, really," I said teary eyed.

"Oh okay so I'm just a girl too. I guess," said Dylan from the side.

"You're amazing too Dylan," I said smiling at him.

The next morning, the three of us were at the airport, packed and ready to visit South Korea.

"This is going to be so much fun yoyo!" exclaimed April.

"I'm so excited!" said Raina.

"It'll be our first time in Seoul! I'm so happy I could die," I joked.

After a long flight of delicious food and naps, we arrived.

I took a deep breath in and said, "This is the air bae breathes."

We all laughed at my silliness.

"Girl if you don't stop Imma cut you," said April.

"Only Raina knows my feels," I said laughing.

We checked in at the hotel and settled in. The first day was spent exploring and eating good food. We were walking around until I saw a cute coffee shop in the corner. Something about it felt inviting.

"Hey let's go in here. I could use some coffee," I suggested.

We went inside as they ordered.

"Wow they have a banana flavored coffee," said Raina.

"Odd...I feel like I've had it before," I said, scratching my head.

"Do you guys have a tangerine cappuccino? For some reason I've been craving it," I said with a big smile.

"Yes we do. Would you like anything else?" asked the cashier.

"How about I get a small cup of that banana coffee too," I said and then paid.

"You're really gonna try that?" asked Raina.

"Why not, might as well," I said laughing.

It was an impulsive decision. I received both drinks and sat at the table with the girls.

"Let's all take a sip together on a count of three," I said.

"Girl I'm not your boyfriend," said April laughing.

"...I feel like this is deja vu. It's happened before," I said tilting my head.

"You got a secret boo we both don't know about?" asked Raina.

"He's such a secret, I don't even know him," I said laughing.

"Oh you mean Dylan?" Raina teased.

"No! He's just our co-worker and a friend," I said.

"Mmhmm with the way he showered you with gifts today, I doubt he thinks that," said April.

"Whatever," I said laughing.

"Anyway, it's nice to finally relax and get a new change of scenery. Thanks girls. Coffee cheers to our first night in Seoul!" I said.

After carefully bumping our cups together, I took a small sip of the tangerine cappuccino. It was sweet and zesty. I had the urge to try the banana coffee too and it wasn't bad at all. Suddenly, as the coffee sinked in, it felt lonely. My heart was suffocating and I didn't understand why.

"Street food?"  they both asked in unison.

"Let's go!" I exclaimed as I carried both cups out with me.

I couldn't bring myself to waste it. Must've been a habit I guess.
