[December 29, 1997]
The eclipse had passed, just came and went. Everyone gaped at the moon, awed by the show, but no one turned a look towards the three grieving kids (are you guys still kids??). It was almost like nothing had happened.
You're sitting on your own bed, staring out of the window. It's almost dark, the sun is tinting the horizon in a beautiful array of colors — pink, orange, yellow, red. Wisps of white cloud complete the picture.
You're thinking about Al. About how he was so sweet towards you, and so supportive. Except, of course, for the day when Ed "died," when Al showed his true colors and feelings.
It was then you understood: kindness is not something you take for granted.
Ed and Al could've easily dismissed the idea of you and left. Ed could've just never talked to you after realizing your past. But they didn't.
"Hey... (Y/N)?"
You hear Ed's voice, and turn your head slowly towards his voice.
"Hm?"
He sits down next to you. You feel the bed dip down a bit as he sits down.
"Are you still thinking about..."
"Yeah. I'm so sorry, Ed, it's all my fault."
Ed stays silent, and you continue staring out the window, where the bright colors are slowly fading to a dark blue.
"Look, (Y/N)." Ed places his hand on your shoulder. "It's not your fault, and stop blaming yourself, okay? I... I want you to be happy."
You take a while to think.
I'll be happy, then. For him.
You turn around fully, facing Ed. His golden eyes are as brilliant as ever, but they hold a new kind of dullness. You smile as brightly as you can and pull him into a hug.
"You know," you whisper in his ear, feeling a shiver run down his spine, "I really, really, really like you."
Ed tenses up from within your grasp. "Uh- I.. I do to! I-"
You pull away, stare for a second at his pink-tinted face, and then shift your hands from his back to his face. Cupping his cheeks, you lean in and close the gap between the two of you.
Ed seems to know better what to do this time. Without hesitating, he wraps his own arms around your body, the automail hand resting on the small of your back, and the other one caressing the back of your head, tangling into your hair. He presses himself hungrily against you, and you feel his desperation as your own.
Without leaving his lips, you shift your position so that you're sitting on his lap, facing him, and legs wrapped around his waist.
You move your hands from his cheeks, which were now unbelievably warm, to circle him loosely around his neck. You yearn for more as you press your body against his.
Ed breaks away first, and you loosen your hold on him as he slowly un-snakes his arms from around you. His eyes are oddly bright, and he's smiling, face crimson.
"I'll give you my heart if you'll give me yours. It's an equivalent exchange." He whispers. You can feel his warm breath on your face.
"...I.. Of course." You breathe.
Ed seems to smile even brighter, though you didn't think that was even possible.
You feel the corner of your lips tug upwards, betraying the straight face you had been trying to pull for the last few days.
"I really like you too, (Y/N). I would sacrifice anything in the world to be with you."
At these words, your smile fades away and the excitement leaves your body for a second. The room becomes darker. You can see something flash in Ed's eyes.
Be happy.
"I... yeah. Yeah, me too. Anything for you." You give him a hesitant smile.
You stare into his eyes, mesmerized. They're so beautiful, unlike any color you've ever seen.
"Dinner!" A voice screams. You jump away from Ed, startled.
"Coming," Ed yells back.
Slowly, the two of you, hand in hand, walk out of your room.
In the kitchen, there's a mouth-watering aroma of (F/F) (Favorite/Food),which made your stomach growl.
(S/N) (Sister's Name) turns around, smiling, but with the same painful aura as you had.
But when she sees your intertwined hands, something about her lightens, and she looks away.
You stare at her for a second, before rushing to sit down.
(S/N) laughs, sitting down in her own seat across from your own.
Ed sits down as well, next to you.
"Dig in!"
