Chapter 14

Hey guys! I stayed up most if the night and only got like five hours of sleep. but I'll be fine... umm... what was I gonna say? oh, right ENJOY!!! *yawn*

Jamie's POV (change in POV!!! What!?!)

I didn't know what happened. Something about the look she gave me told me that Lilian had done something unthinkable and unbelievable.

But what? What could she have possibly done? She was so nice and selfless. I don't get how so many people hated her.

Lily always brings me things like cookies and balloons on the holidays and stuff. I highly doubt that she's flirting with me.

I had to find out what happened back there and why Kat seemed so hurt and... Betrayed? She seemed to emit a sadness that broke my heart to think about.

So to get answers I went to my best shot. Her best friend, Amy. As I walked up to her she glanced up hopefully but when she saw it was me she glared, got up from. Her seat and started to walk away.

"Amy, wait! Please! I need to find out what's wrong with Kat!" I pleaded after her.

She turned around sharply at my words and almost screamed at me "Well for you information Jamie, you broke her! You flirted with the worst person possible! If it had been anyone but Lily then Kat would only be upset, since you stole her first kiss and she loves you, but it was with HER! Her of all people! She might never trust again! This has happened twice now and she's going to get tired of trusting people only to get hurt in the end! You broke her and now she'll be even harder to talk to!"

I was shocked. Kat loves me?!? I couldn't believe it.

It was also weird to see Amy shouting angrily. Amy seemed like a calm girl but man, when her friends were in trouble she was as dangerous as an angry lion. Maybe that's why Derek felt so strongly about her.

Yeah you heard me. Derek had a crush on Amy. It was so obvious that I was surprised that Amy didn't know.

Anyways while she was screaming at me Genevieve, another close friend of Kats, walked up and after the rant tried to calm Amy enough to hear the story. Her eyes widened at the mention of Lily.

"Am I missing a piece of information here? What happened between them that made me being nice to her so bad?" I finally blurted.

Amy glared at me as the calmer, more reasonable Genevieve answered my question.

"It all started in the first grade... They were friends. Best friends actually. They never went anywhere without each other. They were like sisters. They told each other everything. Kat had a crush... She told Lily. Lily told him and made her look bad in front of everyone... He asked Lily out... She accepted... Kat was crushed because not only had he laughed in her face as soon as he found out but her best friend betrayed her and hurt her beyond words. It might have been just a first grade crush but as time went by... Lily spilled all of Kats darkest secrets. She hasn't been able to trust anyone the same way ever again."

After she was done I asked, "why does she think she's so horrible? It was just a couple of secrets. I mean no 6 year old has that many horrible secret."

She answered with a sad expression on her face. "Kat has always been cautious with what she says to people and tries to make sure that no one gets hurt. She didn't trust easily even before Lily. Lily also blackmailed her into getting into trouble. She was the schools 'bad girl' and it was all her fault. All of the things that Lily did were pinned on Kat. She had to take anger management classes. She always used to act on impulse."

As Genie spoke I could see what had been going through Kats mind as we talked. Those painful memories that broke her down.

I felt useless. I caused the person that I loved the most a pain that wasn't easily forgiven. I had to fix it somehow.

After Genie finished talking I told them what I had done wasn't meant as flirting it was just my way of being nice. They didn't believe me but something about the pure pain that I'm sure was shining in my eyes gave them a reason to help me win back her affection.

We talked a bit until school started. By that time I had the perfect way to get her to forgive me. It was going to be perfect.

What are they planing? will Kat forgive him? do you guys believe that Jamie was just trying to be nice?
