"So we came to a dance and we aren't going to dance?!? What has this world come to?!?" Jamie had been trying to get me to dance for the past few hours. Did I mention that I'm also not a good dancer? Which sucks because it seems that my date was practically a professional.

"Jamie I can't dance." I said as I sat down on a stool and crossed my arms. He rolled his eyes. "Have you ever tried?" he asked.

I tried to stay in the stool as he tried to drag me to the dance floor. "Yes I have and it went horribly wrong." I said as Jamie successfully got me off the stool.

"When at first you don't succeed try, try again." he said as he dragged me to the floor. I sighed and gave in. He wrapped his arms around my waist and started moving to the music. I just stood there awkwardly, not knowing what to do.

"Just relax and I'll guide you. Trust me." I relaxed a bit but not enough for him to guide me. I had trouble trusting people and letting them lead me in case they led me the wrong way.

"Come on, Kat, just relax and let the music move you." I relaxed and soon felt myself swaying to the beat of the music. I was dancing! I looked up happily at Jamie who looks really proud of himself. That's when it hit me, I loved Jamie with all my heart and he loved me back. I realized that for the first time in a long time I wasn't afraid and I trusted someone.

I suddenly felt the urge to tell Jamie everything. My whole life story and all the things that I had been through. I didn't want to spoil the night though so I stayed silent and let myself get lost in his eyes.

"I think we have had enough dancing for tonight, come on I want to take you somewhere." he grabbed my hand and led me out the doors. We got in the car and he started driving. I didn't know were but at that point I don't think it really mattered.

Jamie's POV

I couldn't take it much longer. I had seen the look in her eyes as we danced. The look of pure trust and love... I knew that I loved her but she didn't know who I was or anything about my past. I needed her to know in case something ever happened.

I pulled into a parking space of a place called City View. Like the name implied you could see the whole city from there. I turned to Kat and started talking, "Kat there is something you should know."

I waited for her reaction. I saw her tense a bit but then she relaxed and motioned for me to go on.

"Well, when I was young I lived with my parents as any other child would... my dad was one of those parents who always was pranking his kids and family, the fun dad. My mom was the most amazing cook I've ever met, she had my eyes and she had blonde hair. My mom and dad loved each other so much... you could see it in their eyes when they looked at each other and that big smile they would get when they mentioned each other.

So when my mom got a promotion of course we were all happy. Then she said that she had to leave for a week to go check out the job we were all a bit sad but we wanted her to achieve her dream. She left on a Monday... at around midnight there was a knock on the door and policemen were there.

They said that my mom had been one of the victims of a plane crash that happened after the plane was stuck by lightning in the middle of the thunderstorm. They said she was killed on impact... I cried for months. My dad though... he started talking to himself, acting like mom was still alive. When I tried to tell him that she was gone and wasn't ever coming back he started yelling at me and saying that I was a mistake and that it should have been me and not her.

The thing is that I believed him... then I guess one of the neighbors heard him yelling and called the cops. They came and took him to a place for mental patients... I haven't seen him. He wrote letters saying he was sorry and that he was getting better but... I'm still scared that he won't be. I'm scared that... something might happen to you and me and that I'll end up the same..."

I burst into tears as I recalled all of the painful words he had said and all of the painful memories of those first few weeks as a 7 year old without a mom.

I felt arms wrap around me and Kats comforting voice. I stopped crying after a while and hugged Kat back. She started singing and soon I was completely calm again. I whispered into her ear, "Thanks, Kat... I don't know what I'd do without you."

I heard her take a deep breath and say, "Jamie, you don't know me as well as you think... no one does. I need to tell you my past, too. Please let me tell you." I pulled away and looked at her. She seemed so vulnerable. I nodded and said, "You can tell me anything." She took a deep breath and started talking.
