Kats POV
The girls and Jamie insisted in coming home with me and taking the blame for my absence the night before.
When we arrived I hopped out of the car and opened the door as we filed into the room. I looked around my living room and saw that everything was the same as it always was.
The boring white walls and tile floor. The couch was pushed up against the wall and next to it was a small table that held a bird cage. Under the table were two dog beds full of blankets. One of the beds was occupied by a Black and Tan long-haired chihuahua.
On the other side of the couch was a fish tank with two fish inside. In front of the couch was a coffee table with magazines and other stuff on top.
On the other side of the room was a TV and tons of movies and family albums all around it.
I walked into the familiar room. I heard the refrigerator close and went to the kitchen to see my mom who was cooking something.
"Hi mama." I said. Yes, I still call my mom mama and mommy.
I saw her jaw clench and she didn't respond. I sighed knowing that she wasn't going to talk to me and that the best thing to do was talk calmly.
"I'm sorry..." I said. My voice was barely above a whisper.
She ignored me and kept stirring the soup that she was cooking.
"Mrs. Love... This is all my fault. I should have brought her back home as soon as I saw her yawning." Said Jamie as I gave him a look that told him to stay out of it.
He didn't get the message. "Please forgive her." He said sounding kind of desperate.
My mom turned. "Who are you?" She asked as she took him in.
"I'm Jamie Andrews. Nice to meet you." He said attempting to put on a charming smile. He stuck his hand out. My mom just stared at him.
He awkwardly dropped his hand to his side. My mother then turned to me and said, "we need to talk."
I nodded and motioned to the girls and Jamie to get out. Jamie hesitated a second before leaving. I turned to my mom expecting her to start yelling.
She looked at me with a disappointed look on her face. "Hon, your wasting your time."
That shocked me. "What? What does that mean?!?" I asked surprise evident in my voice.
She sighed and ran a hand through her hair that was so similar to mine. "I mean he's obviously a bad influence. He's trouble and before you know it you will be too."
I literally facepalmed. "Mom, trust me. I know what I'm doing." I was practically begging.
She gave me a look and I immediately knew she was gonna start ranting about how she was the parent and how many kids have said the same and blah blah blah.
Sure enough she started talking "that's what that kid said and I heard on the news that he was arrested for drug dealing and that other girl got pregnant and now she's all alone taking care of her child..."
I tuned her out when she was done with her rant I spoke up, "this is the problem mom. Just trust me. If things don't work out then you can say I told you so for the rest of my life. Deal?"
She looked at me and said, "if you get pregnant and he leaves-"
I cut her off "MOM!!! I'm not getting pregnant!" I yelled.
She looked at me and gave me a disbelieving look. "Who do you think I am?!?" I yelled again.
She sighed. "Fine but don't say I didn't warn you."
"Thank you." I muttered as I turned away.
"Kat!" She said as I started out the door. I turned around. She looked a bit guilty but she covered it up quickly.
"You still need to talk to your father... And if he beaks your heart... Don't come crying to me... I won't be there for you." She said the last part softly and I thought I saw a bit of pain cross them but maybe I was imagining.
I turned and I'm sure you could see the hurt in my eyes. I mean parents are supposed to love you and care for you no matter what right? Apparently not.
I walked out and looked up to see Jamie and the girls sitting on the couch staring at me. They gave me concerned looks I opened my mouth to talk when my dad walked in.
He looked at me angrily and said, "why didn't you come home last night?" He looked over the small group and his eyes landed on Jamie.
His gaze darted between us, then he asked me, "your not pregnant are you?"
My jaw dropped. "Of course not!!" I squeaked.
He looked at me then at Jamie. "Young man, I need to talk to you."
Jamie got up and they went into another room. I heard my dad yelling while Jamie calmly answered. Then I heard my father grow quiet. He mumbled something that I didn't hear.
The next thing I know Jamie says something and his tone indicates that he's irritated. I could hear them but I couldn't make out the words. My father spoke again in a... Disgusted tone? Jamie yelled something back. I heard him get up and walk out.
I stood up and be walked over to me. I opened my mouth to say something as my dad appeared at the door. I never got to finish since Jamie grabbed me by the waist and crashes his lips onto mine.
I kisses him back. Without a thought, my brain didn't process the gasp from my mom who had appeared at the doorway as well. It didn't process my dad shouting at me to stop it. It didn't process anything but the feel of Jamie's perfect, full lips against my own.
Getting lost in that kiss was probably my biggest mistake ever.
