It Was Just an Apple

When I came to, my body ached slightly, my head was still dizzy but only enough to let me know it was there, as I stood up, my eyes scanned the area, I was back outside the cave, desert sands as far as a human could see. I still had my bag also the last words I heard resonated in my head softly.

"Enjoy your fate."

What did the voice mean by that? What fate? Does fate even exist? I have no idea anymore. I started walking back to where the sight would be, but found nothing, just untouched sand... "Excuse me?" I questioned to myself "What happened while I was out?" I sighed as I took out my phone I still had wifi but no bars to call or text "I need to find some shade or something, it's to hot out." I looked at the time, it was only 6:00 pm I headed to the left where I last saw the Nile on the bus ride to the sight, hoping I may find someone, or a town.

I walked over the last sand dune, I only had light sweat on my forehead from the heat, luckily I rationed out the water I had brought, and still had just below half left. Once over the dune my eyes caught sight of a nice town, with what looked like a palace in the back, it looked oddly familiar to me, but I couldn't place it. I headed towards it in hope of finding my class and teacher.

I had only been in the town for 15 minutes and realized I don't belong, everyone was dressed in old style ancient Egyptian clothes, no cars either, I ducked into an ally to hide before anyone could see me and to calm my thoughts. "What did that card do!?" I shouted in my head as I reached into my pocket trying to find it, I remembered I had dropped it in the cave but it was in my pocket somehow, pulling it out in confusion and looked it over, it was longer a shiny white color, it had a golden dragon on it, it looked like a duel monster card, but no attack or defence points on it, or information, the Dragon had 8 wings that lined it's snake like body, it had a blue gem atop it's head and held colored orbs in its 4 claws, it's eyes were white.

I had found a sheet that hung over some crates and barrels and grabbed it I had walked around the alley way that was connected to more alleyways when I found the sheet, I had been in them for a few hours trying to find out what to do, it was 8:00 pm now the sun was just starting to set in the sky, I took some rope I found near by and tied it around my clocked neck to hold it in place and pulled up the hood as I made my way out of the alleyway, less people were on the street which helped my panicked self to relax slightly, my stomach made its self known as I walked by small shops with jewels, weapons, fish and fruit. Yep I wondered into the market part of the town, I need to leave before I see something yum-to late I found an Apple.

My form sunk down into the shadows near the buildings near the shop. I looked as calculating outcomes of getting away with it, or not, every possible scenario, like a chess board I calculated every move that could be made with every piece, till I finally came up with the right plan. The shop keeper had his attention to a customer facing away from the apples, now was my chance I steadily walked towards the shop, forcing myself to seem uninterested, I kept my head forward making it seem like I was looking start when I was hungrily looking at the Apple with greed.

Just mere feet from the shop my hand shot out and grabbed the Apple, recoiling back under the clock, I had only made it two steps forward after I snatched my prey when a voice boomed behind me causing my body to stiffen "Hey! Where are you going with my Apple without paying!?" The voice shouted in rage I didn't turn around like a mature person, I bolted off as the voice yelled once more "Guards! Guards! It's a thief!" I bolted down the streets avoiding people as best I can with the apple in hand as I heard foot falls behind me as the owners shouted for me to stop.

Just moments of running I charged back into alley ways as the guards chased me, I scanned the area looking for a way out when I saw an exit to the right, I turned on my heel and ran down the straight lane as more soldiers appeared at the exit running at me, from this point my body moved on its own, I jumped onto some crates and wall ran over the guards as they told me to stop, once I passed them I jumped off the wall and landed with a roll out of the alley way and back on the streets, I turned to the left this time and only took a few steps as I ran into something sturdy and fell back down, I brought my elbows out to stop from landing directly on my bag to save my electronics from my fall and let go of the apple by accident, the guards running steps could be heard competing to a halt near me as I closed my eyes in exhaustion trying to plot a new escape.

As I looked up I saw a figure on a white horse, the thing I ran into, hands grabbed me harshly bringing me to my knees as another hand pulled my hood back. My eyes looked up to the being on the horse and my eyes involuntarily widened. A few things made sense now, but only a tad, in front of me on the horse sat Atem, Pharaoh Atem, from the anime Yugioh. My brain was working on over time now trying to figure it out "What did she steal?" He asked the guards behind me "An apple my king." One spoke calmly "Just an apple?" He jumped off the horse looking at me, I couldn't read his look, damn he is good at being mysterious. "Yes." The guard nodded and bowed his head slightly. "Why did you steal an apple?" He asked bluntly "Because I was hungry?" I spoke but it left my lips as if it were a question.

We started at each other for about 8 minutes till he finally spoke "It may have just been an apple, but you still need to be punished." I gulped "How about no." The words left my mouth before I could process them, my brain was already scolding me "Yes (Y/N) you want to die." My thought spoke "Excuse me?" His eyes widened slightly as a guard hit the back of my head "I am so sorry! My words have a mind of their own sometimes!" I looked back up at him, pretending to not be affected by the hit he seemed amused somewhat as he walked back to his horse "Bring her to the palace." He spoke as the horse turned and left. "Great, I am doomed." I thought as the guards forced me to stand and walk.
