Thrusted into a Tournament

I stood outside the basement stairs of the museum, Ishizu had verbally dragged Yami down to talk to him, before she did I spoke to her, asked her to not mention me being married to him, she agreed and thanked me for keeping my knowledge to myself, I learned against the wall waiting, as little to no people walked by me "Thank you Ishizu." Yamis voice spoke as he and Ishizu walked up the stairs "You are very welcome." She smiled, "Please be safe on your way home." With that she bowed and took her leave "Find out anything?" I asked as we headed towards the exit "I am sure you already know. But yes, I did." He mentioned "I do know. I also know what is to come next." I opened the door for him, once he walked throw a man in a suit walked up to him are you Yugi Muto?" He asked sternly "Yes, can I help you?" Yami tilted his head "Mister Kaiba ordered me to give this to you." He reached into his suit pocket and pulled out a piece of paper, handed it to him and walked off "What's this?" He questioned glancing at the paper "An invitation." I shrugged as if it were no big deal as I took his wrist and dragged him to the park where I knew he needed to go.

A few other people were in the park, "I wonder what is going on?" He looked around "I'd tell ya, but that would ruin the surprise. I can tell ya, it is going to be fun, and somewhat dangerous." I sat on a the fountain a few feet away from him "You are no help with this." He chuckled sitting next to me, just as he sat a helicopter flew over head, and the big screen on a near by skyscraper turned on and Kaibas big fat head was on it... sorry I meant ego.

"I'm sure you are all wondering why you select few got invitations to this little get together, allow me to show you." He held up his hand with a duel disk on it "I have invented a new way of dueling and need to test it, so I came up with a Tournament to do so, only those with an invitation, or the best of the best were brought her to hear this, spread the word, at midnight tonight this duel disks will be shipped to stores there you will purchase them and sign up for the tournament, each of you will be given a card with a map fragment, you will need 6 map fragments all together that when put together will give you the location of the second round of the tournament, those that lose all their map fragments will be kicked from the tournament. So get some rest, you all have a long week ahead of you." With that the screen turned off and the helicopter flew off.

"I can't wait, school needs to hurry up!" Joey shouted "Calm down Joey." Yugi laughed at his friends excitement "I can't help it! Another duel tournament here in Domino City!" He exclaimed "If I didn't k ow better, I'd say you were obsessed with dueling Joey." Tristen grabbed Joey round the neck and ruffled his hair "Shut it Tristen! Stop messing up my hair!" He groaned trying to pry his hands away causing the group to laugh, I looked back to the window, it was a nice clear day perfect for people to register for the tournament.

Once class was over everyone rushed out to go about their day while Joey nearly fell down the stairs trying to get to his locker "Seriously you being existed isn't good for your health." I laughed as Tea nodded. We walked out of the school making small talk while we went to the nearest shop that would be seeking the new duel disks, it was normal talk, though Joey would show his true cockiness, receiving hits from Tea and laughs from everyone else.

The store was basic, though it had a new shelve half empty for just duel disks, Yugi got his and registered first, then Joey tried and got rejected, he made a fuss about it causing the store clerk to make a call (To Kabia no doubt) once the cal ended the clerk apologized, lied that the computer had glitched and gave him his duel disk, Joey started complaining about the whole thing once more but was dragged by his collar out the store by Tristen. When Joey had calmed down it had gotten to Sun set, he said he had to go check in on his sister at the hospital before visiting hours were over, Tea told him it might be dangerous but he shrugged it off, said he would be fine then left in a dash, we walked Tea home first, she wished us good night and to call her when we got home so she knows we were safe, Tristans house was on the way to the game shop so he took his leave saying the same thing. As Yugi and I walked it had gotten darker but the sun was still at the edge of the sky "How does this thing even work?" He looked over the box for instructions "You place it on your wrist, it clips around it, has a slot for your deck and poof." I spoke all knowingly "Of course you would know." He laughed "It's sad you can't duel in the tournament, I'm sure you could go far." He said sweetly "I doubt that." I shrugged "Plus I would risk using cards that don't exist in this world. I could blow my cover! Or worse!" I pause for effect "Break the 4th wall!" I fake gasped "Break the fourth wall?" He questioned "Yeah that would be horrible!" I laughed at my thought, we entered the game shop, it was my... 4th home, it was to late for me to walk home so I called Nana and told her I'd be staying here, she didn't mind, after I called Tea, she confirmed Tristen called her, but Joey hasn't called yet, I told her he was fine, that he called us a few moments before I called her, she sighed in relief and we ended the call with a goodnight. Yugi had heard my lie and asked why I told him Joey was fine, he was just not in a good mood, he had asked if it was something I couldn't tell him and I nodded, he didn't question me any further and we both went to bed, I slept on the couch all wrapped up in a huge thick blanket for the night.
