I collapsed onto my knees, calmly exhaling and inhaling "Oh man! That was stressful!" I whined. My duel had concluded with me as the victor, though it was by the skin of my teeth, just barely. It was hard, most of the cards in my hand I had to hide, when I drew on my turn it was just the card I needed. Kaiba was taken back by the move Mokuba even seemed shocked. I stood up and stretched, I hadn't realized how tense I had gotten "Good duel Kaiba." I smiled only to receive a scowl from the millionaire "Just who are you?" He barked harshly "Just one of Yugis friends. No big deal." I shrugged removing my deck than the duel disk ""That doesn't answer my question." He crossed his arms dramatically "If you must know." I handed Yami his duel disk "The names (Y/N) (L/N), nothing special at all." I looked at him he tsk'd and turned on his heel "Lets go Mokuba." With that he and his little brother left.
"You have skill. No doubt." Yami spoke "Not really. It was just luck, I was so scatter brained during the whole thing, I'm not sure how I even managed." We walked around the city, tv screens showed all the challengers taken out, leaving just the few finalists, Day 1 of the tournament has ended and everyone was taking a much needed break. As we passed a few cafes and restaurants my stomach made its demands for food "See! Even my body couldn't handle that duel! I'm starving!" I complained causing the star haired teen to chuckle "Yugi! (Y/N)! Over here!" A voice called us, it was the rest of our group outside a restaurant with Joey savings over "Looks like they have us covered, let's go." He smirked as we ran over.
Tea had set a reservation for all of us after the day was over, we sat in a booth set, Yami and Joey sat on the outside, Tristen next to Joey, Tea next to him, leaving me next to Yami. "Seriously!? You took on Kaiba!?" Joey shouted standing from his spot, making others around us to shush him "Settle down, it is on a need to know bases Joey." I blushed looking at the table "Why did you let her?" Tristan asked Yami "She was determined to go through with it." He stated bluntly."You just put a target in your back there (Y/N)." Joey pointed at me "Not really. I'm not a duelist like you two. Plus I'm not in the tournament." I waved his statement off "You got his attention look." Tea pointed to the restaurants entrance to see the rich boy entering with his sights on us. Instinctively is hid the best I could behind Yami (more or less his hair) in hopes of Kaiba just leaving. Sadly he headed towards our table anyway, all attempts were in vain "Only you would come to a cheap restaurant like this." He spoke bluntly, causing some people to look our way again "What do you want rich boy!" Joey gave him a mean glare "Just delivering something." He placed a box in front of me "I had no idea you were a delivery boy." Joey teased "Joey stop it." Tea threw an ice cube at him as I looked at the box.
It was a duel disk box "Why?" I looked at him curiously "You are now officially in the tournament. I even was nice and gave you an extra locator card to make up for you not participating for the first day." He had a strange look about him "What no way! I'm not interested!" I squeaked "To bad, you're in, and unless you want to go out as a quieter, you'll duel." He turned and left.
I moved the box to my lap as we ate, everyone did their best to keep the topics flowing away from the incident, but I kept feeling like someone was watching me. I ate silently as my thoughts drifted to the box, it got to the point my mind went blank for the rest of the meal.
My room was illuminated by the moon in the clear night sky. I opened the box to see the duel disk and locator cards, "Why not have fun and join the tournament?" The dragons voice spoke, I hadn't heard it in so long I nearly forgot about it "I'm not so sure. What would happen if I did?" I asked softly "I'm not sure. You could help them, it would even be fun." It spoke again "I suppose... alright I will." I laid down with new determination for tomorrow and for the rest of the tournament.
In the morning I sat at the table eating breakfast. I had gotten a nice night of sleep, Nana made pancakes for breakfast and was finishing the dishes "I got a call from Tea, her and the others are coming to pick you up, I told her to just come on in." She smiled "Ok thanks." I took a bit, I was still in my PJs. "Hey we're here!" Tristen walked into the kitchen "Food!" Joey cheered running in and taking a set already fixing himself a plate "Joey! Don't just eat!" Tea was about to pull him away by the ear "It is alright Tea, I made plenty since I knew you were coming over." Nana smiled softly "Are you sure?" She asked sweetly "Of course, my home is your home." She finished the last plate "I'll go get dressed, eat up guys." I stood up after finishing.
I got dressed into a black white and red plaid skirt, a white tank top with a black vest over it, unbuttoned, black socks to my thigh and white boots, I put a little pin in my hair to keep it out of my face and a few bracelets. I had a deck holder latched onto my right leg with my deck in it, my duel disk on my arm, I glanced over my reflection and sighed "We got this." I smiled "Good luck." The voice cheered. I made my way down the stairs where everyone was waiting "Hope you enjoyed the meal." I walked down the last step "Up, thanks so much. Let's go!" Joey took off out the door "Joey wait up!" Tristen shouted "Good luck (Y/N) catch up later!" He ran after the blonde "Honestly those two are a handful." Tea face palmed.
