I was in complete shock. Did Jikkō really just... break the rules?
I couldn't believe it, why would she do that? It was established that rule breakers would be punished, and we knew what Monokuma meant by that. I stared at Jikkō, terrified for her, yet she calmly stood her ground.
Monokuma got to his feet, looking up at the assassin, his red eye glowing.
Jikkō just looked at him expectantly, staring down at him with narrowed eyes. "Well?"
The bear hesitated. "I'll let you off with a warning this time, but if anyone else tries to pull a stunt like this again, there will be no second chances." And with that, he exited the room.
Jikkō turned back to the group. "I told you she still cares."
"What the hell, Jikkō?!" I couldn't help myself from calling out. "You could've been killed! What were you thinking?! I don't wanna lose you too!"
Jikkō stepped towards me, placing her hands on my shoulders. "I'm not going anywhere, Kazuki. I'm not stupid, I know what I'm doing. Michio was acting off from the beginning, but Satchiko was sincere. Something happened very recently to do this to her, the Satchiko we know is still in there somewhere."
"Yeah, but..." I looked away. "Don't do anything like that again."
Jikkō nodded. "I won't." She stepped away from me, looking to the rest of us. "Well then, let's get back to investigating. Katashi, Willow, Mai, did you find anything while we were gone?"
"Oh yeah!" Mai spoke up, "There was this old laptop in the arcade that was open to an article talking about some tragedy."
"Tragedy?" I asked curiously. "What kind of tragedy?"
"The biggest, most awful, most tragic event in human history, sparked by the tragedy of Hope's Peak Academy." Willow said, rolling her eyes. "Sounded like a load of bull to me, but Mai said it might be important, so we'll look more into that...."
Jikkō nodded. "Alright, well, you do that. I don't think that information would be left out if it wouldn't be useful. Katashi, what about you?"
"Oh, I was looking at the information in Satchiko's room..." Katashi said, "The tragedy was mentioned there too, and something about a fashionista...."
"Fashionista...?" Jikkō muttered, "Interesting... well, I'll try to find out more about that." She paused for a moment, her eyes narrowing. "Mai, you know I can see you staring at me."
"O-oh, sorry..." Mai let out a nervous laugh. "It's just... you've never shown your face before... and your eye...."
"Assassination isn't an easy job. If your target knows what you're doing, you're done for. I'm lucky I only lost vision in one eye." Jikkō stated. "Now, let's get to work. I don't trust Michio to stick to his word, giving us forty eight hours, so let's all split up and investigate as much as possible." She said, taking her bandana back from me but not putting it on.
Everyone agreed, and off we went. I could only hope that this would be our last investigation.
