We humans are beings that like to take rather than to give. We humans are dreamers that imagine things that often times help ourselves. Even me, the author of pointing out the flaws of humanity, have the selfish flaw of seeking things out for me.
The reason I sit, by my desk, every now and then, is to give all of you something to think about. At this moment I ask you to think about what you do for yourself and how much of that time you use is for pleasing others needs. The scales of the two are pretty tipped right? I know that at least where I live things are focused mainly on ourselves. We do help others and we do please people other than ourselves, but not enough. We talk about how we can help but do we ever follow through? Sometimes. Just maybe not enough.
As I type each word I'm thinking about at this moment, I ponder about the following things:
- Who would this help?
- Why does this matter?
- Do I do these things?
I am mostly thinking about the last one. And the answer is yes. I find that I do act rather selfish o certain matters and that's why I need to remember that I am blessed with gifts others may not have, or may not ever have. I am thankful for all of the people who surround and fill me with happiness, kindness and love. I know that other people may not ever get what I feel and that's something that they shouldn't have to go through.
I don't know what I can do by writing this accept plant the idea of helping others. I know this was a boring chapter in the story but maybe its a needed one. My main message to you is to go out and count your blessings. Sometimes life bites with a cruel intention, but someones elses life may bite harder and with more venom.
What are you thankful for?
