Hero is such an over used term that describes ones actions toward anything that benefits another being in need. The power of the word weighs heavily upon some shoulders, as it describes their relationship toward the world. Apparently that's what they are to others in the world. Some could argue that they are, but there are always some who could state otherwise. The question that plagues all philosophers, is one a hero?

Everyone wants to be and everyone wants to see who the world looks to for guidance. The fame and desperation of helping everyone who cannot help themselves is a tempting thought in of itself. With so many outcomes that will lead to ones success, which road will ultimately lead to the brightest path of them all? For the select few, they need everyone to see their glory as they help. Why can't they just help out of selflessness and the will for what's right? Apparently everything needs to benefit oneself at the expense of others misfortune. This is catered to the idea of a hero for society.
Misleading smiles isn't the only thing at risk when rewarding the just and fair. Often enough the same get the precious reward that is conceived through saving the day, or doing the biggest help, or making the biggest show. The popularity contest runs deep as the ones who play are selfish in their own remark. The ones who are ignored are the ones who should be given the chance to have the reward. Usually the ones who are not seen make the biggest difference in the world. With each step at a time they can change the world small leaps at a time. Eventually those actions will snowball into something greater. But the ones who ask for the reward may not be the most humble. This is catered toward society's views.
The boundaries of right and wrong are so thinly defined in the black and white. What's right and what's wrong can only be told what they are by the ones who are telling you what it is. To some doing the wrong thing might be the right thing for other. Acting upon ones own accordance to others philosophies is a step in the direction of ones own needs. For one has just captured the attention of the few who believe the same thing. For listening to just one opinion has shaped the way one benefits society. One will benefit the society of the ones who are the most out spoken of what they believe. The ones who do not speak are always left spoken for. And the spoken for are just to quite to say what they want to happen. One must act on their own instincts and their own judgements. Only ones ideas can shape ones actions. Others cannot decide that for you. One must act upon ones own opinion of what's right and what is wrong to you and continue the path they believe.
All hero's can be evil when life lays on the line of who will be saved. They act upon what they think is right. Past presences in the world could have been seen as evil as some and hero's to others. They tried to save others even though that's not what they did to other people. One could do what they thought was right and still be hated for doing it. The term "hero" has become a term used by the general public to fit their views of what's right. Maybe there are no hero's, just people acting upon a social stigma.
" A hero is born among a hundred, a wise man is found among a thousand, but an accomplished one might not be found even among a hundred thousand men." -Plato (BrainyQuote.)
Each individual can say what they think a hero is and each individual could be right. Being a hero is what ones own opinion is. Only oneself can state otherwise. As long as one carries out what they believe they can be a hero. Its just crossing the lines of others morals that make one a villain.
