The silence was slowly replaced by the sound of birds chirping and a soft breeze blowing through the trees, the smell of roses filling my nose. I sat in the back yard, looking up at the house. The pool was gone, replaced by green grass...I knew this place. I jumped to my feet, wanting to look around, but a pain shot through me, causing me to fall back onto my knees.
I looked at my legs, the pain mostly coming from them, and saw that I was covered in cuts. Some were shallow and barely noticeable, but others were deep gashes. I quickly waved my hands over them, healing myself, but nothing happened.
"No, no, please no." I muttered to myself, trying again and again, but there was still nothing. Gritting my teeth, I forced myself to stand. There had to be something inside that I could use to stop the bleeding.
I carefully made my way inside, not sure what I would find. This wasn't the same house I knew, it was different, younger, brighter. Stepping inside the back door, I looked down the hallway, past the kitchen and dining room, the living room at the other end. I hesitantly made my way down the hall, and a small noise made me freeze.
I turned towards the kitchen door, hearing a child's laugh from inside. I backed away, not wanting to go inside. The whole situation reminded me of a horror movie, and I refused to be the dumb girl who always dies. I turned and pictured my room, quickly teleporting upstairs. At least I still had some of my powers.
I looked around the room, and it was much simpler than what it usually looked like. The walls were covered in a fancy wallpaper, the wooden floor a little creaky, a rug laid out in the center of the room.
The bed was smaller too, and multiple quilts were placed neatly onto it, feather pillows placed carefully at the top. As I was looking around, I heard something downstairs, just like someone running through the hall. I bit my lip, not sure what to do. I barely knew where I was, let alone when. Who knows what could be downstairs.
With a hesitant sigh, I found myself surrounded by the familiar black mist, and teleported down to the living room. The mist was just starting to clear when two short figures rounded the corner, and I struggled to hold back a startled scream. I watched as the two children skid to a stop, one moving to stand in front of the other protectively.
I froze, their faces so familiar it made my heart ache. The child closest to me, his brown eyes examining my, seeing the cuts on my body, let his guard down, a worried look on his face.
"M-Miss?" He began, and I looked down at his, surprised at how his voice was so close to Tao's. "Why are you bleeding?" He asked, worried.
I looked at him, then at the second child, confused. "I..." I began, wanting to ask so many questions, but stopped when a third, older child walked in.
"Tao! You should know better than to play around when-" The elder one scolded, then glanced up at me and froze. "Are you okay, miss?" He asked, and I watched as the two younger children looked back at me. The one closest to me was named Tao. And the one behind him looked awfully similar to Kai. The older one looked just like Xiumin. What was going on?
I felt tears running down my cheeks, and when they started to fall, the children became even more worried.
"Kai, go get mommy and daddy." Tao said, Kai running to somewhere in the house, Xiumin following after him. Tao then gently grabbed my hand, leading me down the hall and to the room across from what I knew as the library. What should have been the gaming room looked more like a parlor.
I couldn't believe how warm his hand was, so small in mine but it was strong. He let go for a second, grabbing a chair and pulling it over to me, then had me sit down. I was still crying when two adults about a decade older than me opened the doors, rushing in.
