I spun around. Rejection wasn't in my dictionary.

"Well aren't you charming?" He looked back at me for a second before fully turning around to face me.

"What more do you want?" My eye twitched as I walked up to him, gently but firmly grabbing his chin and making him look down at me.

"Where are we going, Tyler?" He glared at me, shaking my hand off before running a hand over his face.

"Listen, I tried to be nice about it, so I'm going to try one more time. I'll go slowly now," he grasped my shoulders, looking directly into my eyes, "I. Don't. Want. You. Following. Me. O-kay?" He stressed each word, almost earning a punch to the throat.

"I'll go slowly as well, then. Where. Are. We. Going?" He held the light between us so we were both illuminated,  watching as his eyes took in every detail apparent on my face. After an eternity of staring, he caved in, groaning as he tightened his grip on my shoulders before letting go a second after doing so.

"This is the only time you're ever coming with me, got it?" I feigned doe eyes, a smirk dancing on my lips soon after he turned around, leading the way.

"Of course," I whispered, following as he walked on.

"So...why are you out here at..."

"5 a.m." I nodded, glancing around.

"Yeah." He let out a deep sigh, contemplating his words.

"Needed a break." I pursed my lips, my hand reaching out for his, immediately dropping it as he looked back at me, eyebrows knitted together.

"Why are you out here?" I broke our few moments of eye contact, instead focusing on my chipped nail polish.

"Same reason, you could say." He resumed walking, the silence draping over us like a thick coat of honey.

Suddenly, he stopped walking. I clenched my fist, ready to curse him out before catching his gaze. He stared up at the tree tops, my eyes following before landing on a tree house directly above us.

"Welcome to my escape."
