I leaned back against Tyler's couch, looking around at the empty room. We got back from the pool ten minutes ago, only to find Josh sitting at Tyler's porch steps, wanting to talk to him about...something. He said it was urgent.
So I left them alone outside, welcoming myself as I made my way around the house, changing into dry clothes(his dry clothes, to be specific), drying my hair with a blow dryer I found in the bathroom down the hall, grabbing a few cookies from the kitchen, and finally making my way into his living room.
"Um, hi?" I glanced up towards the stairs, staring at the boy with soft spikes sitting atop his head.
"Aria. You?" He slowly came down, scratching the back of his head, a trait he shared with Tyler.
"Zack, uh, is Tyler–"
"He's talking to Josh outside." I cut him off, watching as he made his way towards me, sitting beside me.
"Y-you're one of Tyler's friends?" I furrowed my eyebrows, his words leaving me perplexed.
"You sound surprised, why?" I don't look like the daughter of a drug dealer at all. I just look like a typical 17 year old with tan skin, horribly frizzy brown hair, green eyes, and a slight sprinkle of freckles across my nose and cheeks.
"Your attitude and over all aura don't necessarily fit with Josh's standards." I leaned back, arms crossed as I stared directly into his brown eyes.
"Josh's standards?" I echoed, observing the boy as his dark eyes lit up.
"Yeah, he chooses all of Tyler's friends, but it's obvious that he didn't choose you to be one of them."
"How so?" I asked, this new information piquing my interest.
"You seem a lot harder than the others. Y'know, like, the whole "punk" thing resonates from you." I laughed, shaking my head just as the front door opened.
"Zack, trust me, I am." He smiled, standing just as Tyler and Josh walked into the room.
"Aria, you met my brother? I am so sorry,"
"Tyler!" Zack groaned, making Tyler and I laugh, while Josh stood behind with a scowl on his face.
"He kept me company, so I really don't mind him."
"Why couldn't she be our sister! She's amazing!" I giggled, shaking my head and standing beside him.
"I can be your makeshift sister, so if you've got any issues with your girlfriends, just come find me, got it?" He grinned, thanking me before waving and running outside.
"Where you going?" Tyler called after him.
"Basketball!" He watched him run down the street, walking over to me soon after.
"At ten at night?" Tyler shrugged, plopping down where Zack was once sitting.
"His life, not mine. I'm not trying to interfere with it." I raised an eyebrow as Josh ran a hand over his face.
"Movie night?" I asked, sitting down beside Tyler.
"Sure, Josh, will you turn the lights off?" He reached over to the light switch, turning the light off and slowly sitting on the sofa.
"What did you guys talk about?" I whispered to Tyler. He simply shook his head, mouthing,
"Nothing."
