LILY:
"Knock, knock?" Abigail says as she walks into my room. "Ready for school?"
"No, I'm just glad this is the last day of this week."
"Well you've survived so far, so I'd say you're doing pretty well," she says laughing.
We get breakfast. Then I grab my books and hurry off to English class.

BLAKE:
When school finally ends, I'm relieved. I made not through the first week of school with only one detention, that's a new record!
I see Lily walk out from her first class.
"Hey what's up?" I ask walking over to her.
"Nothing really, I'm just amazed that I made it through the first week here, without like dieing."
"I know what you mean," I say, "but aren't you like super good at school?"
"Ya, this just isn't where I want to be for school."
"I'm sorry. I wish I could relate, but for me, this is the good life."
"What?" She asks.
"Well, lets just say, my parents didn't exactly send me here."
I laugh seeing she doesn't get it. "I ran away from my dad."
"Why? He uses to be the best coach ever," She says, remembering my dad coaching the girl's varsity basketball team at Lincoln Middle School.
"Ya well, only about a month after we moved my mom died of cancer," I say doing my best to hold it together. There is no way I'm going to cry in front of a girl, especially Lily. "And after that, my dad changed. A LOT! He became an alcoholic trying to get rid of the pain he was feeling. Soon enough he became abusive and started beating up my sister. And basically I defended her until she left, then he started to beat me up instead. So I honestly don't miss him. Well, I miss the old him, before my mother died, but that was a while ago so..."
"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to be nosy. And I'm really sorry for what you've gone through."
"No, it's fine. But now you have to tell me why you're here, I mean you had the perfect life. Why would you want to come to this school?"
"Basically, my parents decided to send me to this boarding school, for no reason."
"You mean you didn't even have a choice? And you don't even know why they sent you away?"
"Nope. They wouldn't tell me anything. They just sent me away from all my friends, my school and everything I've ever known... And I didn't even get to say goodbye." A tear trickles down her cheek. "I really miss them."
Man, I thought I was the only one who had it hard. I'm such an idiot, and now I've made this girl cry. What do I do now?
"That must have been hard," I say trying to comfort her as best I can.
"I'm sorry," she says wiping away her tears.
"No don't be."
Another tear slithers down her cheek, "No, I'm really sorry about your mom dieing and your dad."
