LILY:
I'm so happy today is Saturday. This weekend is the basketball tryouts. I just hope I make it because I heard the basketball teams here are pretty good already.
"Hey, look who it is," Abigail says to me. "Where's Blake, huh? Did he leave you all alone?" She says mocking me.
"Seriously! Are you guys gonna tryout for basketball?" I ask.
"No way," Abigail says, "I do dance and swim, not sports!"
"What about you Sarah?"
"I don't think so...I would rather focus on piano, violin, and volleyball. Basketball is not really my thing."
"Wow that sucks guys," I say disappointed.
"Hey guys," Blake says as he and Thomas walk over to us.
I guess we're kinda like a squad now. Sorta. Probably not... I don't know.
"Hi," we reply.
"Are you guys gonna tryout for basketball?" I ask the boys.
"Of course! Basketball is the best!" Blake says.
"Yep, I'm going to try out too," Thomas says.
"Well we better get going then," Sarah says, "tryouts start in 10." So Sarah and Abigail head to the basketball court. They take seats on the back wall of the benches so that they can watch me try out.
The boys go back to their rooms to get changed and I go back to my room.

BLAKE:
We get into our tryout uniforms and race down to where all the boys are trying out.
As I warm up, they announce, "It seems that this year we have enough people trying out to have both a varsity team and a junior varsity team. We have decided that last years varsity players will stay on the varsity team. The rest of you guys will be trying out for the last two spots on the varsity team or to get a spot on the JV team. Varsity basketball players, you are excused from tryouts. The rest of you, get warmed up."
"Thomas we have to get those last two spots on the varsity team," I say.
"I'm sure you'll get a spot, not me. I'm not super good at basketball."

Tryouts have been going on all weekend and now they are finally hanging up the sheet, with who made it. I hold my breath.
Thomas and I wait until everyone leaves before we look. I made it to varsity! I search for Thomas's name on the varsity list, but it's not ther. As I scan my eyes down, I find his name on the JV team sheet.
"Ah man, I'm sorry," I say.
"It's fine. I don't really care what team I'm on, I just want to play basketball."
"That's the spirit!" I say trying to keep him positive.
Lily, Abigail, and Sarah come over to us.
"Did you guys make it?" Lily asks.
"I made JV and Blake made Varsity," Thomas says.
"Awesome!" They all say.
"What about you, Lily?" I ask.
"I made it. And there is only a varsity team for the girls," she says.
"That's great, congrats!"
"Let's go get ice-cream to celebrate," Abigail suggests.
"Ya!" we all say. Then we all go and get ice-cream.
