I Didn't Expect This From You

*Shelby's POV*

I sighed as I got dressed. Today is my court date for Lilly. Yeah I know, I didn't think this would've happened either but it did. Louis is fighting to have my rights revoked from Lilly. Meaning I can't have anything to do with her medical records and so on.

"Shel, are you almost ready?" Harry asked.

"Yeah." I sighed.

"Then let's go. My mum has the kids." Harry said taking my hand in his.

I nodded going with him. We walked out to the car and got in. Harry sighed as he took off.

"I'm sorry he's doing this." Harry sighed.

"I know I'm not her birth mum but I treat her like I am. I love her dearly Harry." I confessed.

"I know you do babe." He said as we pulled in.

"Kaiser is kicking up a storm today." I whispered as we walked in.

"Out of any days he picks today." Harry said making me nod.

We walked into the room seeing everyone in the one direction family. I sighed hugging Niall the first chance I got.

"You'll do great Shel." He whispered.

"I sure hope so." I said.

The court date soon begun and Louis was the first one called to the stand to give his testimony.

"Louis, what is your relationship to Lilly?" My lawyer asked.

"I'm her father." Louis said.

"Has Shelby ever harmed Lilly?" She asked.

"No mam not that I'm aware of." Louis said.

"Why would you want to do this then?" She asked.

"Because, Shelby isn't Lilly's birth mum. She shouldn't have a say in what happens to Lilly. It's hard enough that Harry and I have to agree on everything." Louis explained.

"What if this were to be Arabella?" She asked.

"It'd be different." Louis said.

"How so? She's a mum to Ara as well as Lilly?" She asked.

"She gave birth to Ara. She didn't give birth to Lilly." Louis responded.

"Sir that's all I have for Louis." My lawyer said.

"Very well then. Shelby please come to the stand." The judge said.

I sighed getting up and walking to the stand.

"Are you okay you look pale?" Louis's lawyer asked me.

"I'm fine, the baby is kicking a load today." I said.

"Okay, do you feel as a mother to Lilly?" He asked.

"Of course, I make her lunch for school, help her with her homework, make sure she takes a shower knowing she tells me she doesn't need one. I'm the one who gives her her medicine when she's ill because her birth mother can't. I could go on for days about this." I said.

"Do you wish she was your kid?" He asked.

"Oh everyday I do. She's a blessing to be around." I smiled.

"Is it true you told Harry that Louis couldn't sign off on his own daughters medical treatments?" He asked.

"Yes, only because he isn't listed. Harry and I are her primary care parents." I explained.

"Is it true that you said that Louis shouldn't have any rights to her?" He asked.

"What?" I gasped. "Of course not what kind of mother do you think I am?"

"So if Lilly were to ask if she could spend the night with Louis would you let her?" He asked.

"Yes as long as we aren't busy." I said.

"Busy with what? Screwing other guys?" Louis asked.

"You know that isn't true." I said. "I get you want to fight for your daughter but do it the right damn way."

"Shelby how many kids do you have?" His lawyer asked.

"Counting Lilly, I have five and the sixth one on the way." I said.

"Wow that's a lot. Do you spend alone time with all of them?" He asked.

"Yes when I can." I nodded.

"When you can? So you're saying that you don't spend all of your time with the kids?" He asked.

"No, I work for a living. I have my own fashion studio. It took time to build it up to what it is today." I said.

"What all do you do at this fashion studio?" He asked.

"Sir what does this have to do with the case?" My lawyer Melody asked.

"New question Mr. O'Brien." The judge said.

"Right sorry. Shelby, is it true you suffer from depression?" He asked.

"I did for a while." I nodded. "I was bullied back in school."

"Did that affect you mothering your children?" He asked.

"I wasn't a mum then." I sighed.

"So are all of your kids close in age?" He asked.

"May I be excused?" I asked.

"Answer the question." He said.

"Yes my kids are close in age." I snapped.

"Shelby, are you okay honey?" Melody asked.

"The baby stopped kicking. I haven't felt any movement from him for a while." I sighed rubbing my bump.

"Let's take a break, I have all the things I need anyways." The judge said.

I sighed getting up walking outside and taking a seat on the park bench. Harry and the guys besides Louis came over. He was talking with his lawyer.

"Were you telling the truth about the baby not moving?" Harry asked very concerned.

"Yes, he started moving once I got up. I think he knows how stressed out I am." I sighed. "I really needed space. They brought up my depression."

Harry sighed hugging me tightly. "I love you. No matter how this goes you're always a great mum and you'll continue to be after this is all said and done."

"Thank you." I whispered.

"Here Shel drink some water." Niall said.

"Thanks Ni." I smiled weakly taking a drink.

"Anytime." Niall sighed taking a seat beside me. "You know I'm always here for you right?"

"Of course I do. You're my brother and I love you for that." I smiled hugging him.

"Guys we got to go they have a answer." Harry said.

I gulped nodding my head.

We all walked in taking our seats. Soon the judge came out.

"Okay, Jury your answer please." The judge said making me look over to them.

"Yes, Louis is granted all rights to Lilly as one of her fathers. Shelby's name is to be taken off of everything leaving only Harry and Louis on her paperwork. Although Lilly is to stay with Harry since he is already her primary care parent." They said making me sigh.

"I hope you're happy." I sighed.
