I awake, immediately annoyed because Zayn isn't in bed with me. I roll over and groan before getting up. I quickly slip on a robe since I'm only in my shorts and a T-shirt. Besides, it's cold too. I quickly comb through my hair and begin to wander my seemingly empty flat in search of Zayn. I check all of the rooms, finding them all empty. I'm beginning to be concerned when I hear giggling near the front of my flat. A smile returns to my face as I walk over there.
Once in view, I see Zayn holding our baby girl up in the air, making adorable silly faces at her. I admire them from afar for awhile until he puts our little girl on the counter. I move into the kitchen and give her a kiss on the forehead then poking her nose.
"Happy birthday Arabella," I say and she giggles a bit more, her brown eyes shining.
"Good morning to you too," Zayn says getting my attention. I jump up onto the counter, placing our daughter on my lap. I see my wonderful husband, shirtless, making us breakfast.
"Good morning baby," I say as he walks over to me, giving me a peck on the lips.
"You going to start making her cake soon?" I ask him. He frowns as me, but it doesn't stay long.
"I guess since one of us isn't able to bake, cough, Elizabeth, cough," he smiles and returns to cooking as I smack his shoulder.
"You've been spending too much time with the lads," I tell him, bouncing our little girl on my lap. She seems so happy.
"It's kind of my job to spend time with them," he laughs.
"I know, but I really do wish you were around here more. Arabella barely knows anything about you from what I tell her," I explain with a frown. Zayn sets his spatula down, rubbing his neck.
"Elizabeth," he warns. I don't say anything and just keep playing with our daughter.
"I'm going to go have a smoke," he tells me, walking towards the bedroom.
"I thought you quit?" I ask him.
"I did. I just need one occasionally, like now," he admits.
"Zayn. I'm sorry. I won't bring it up anymore. I knew the troubles when I started dating you," I say grabbing his bicep, making it so he isn't able to leave.
"I don't care if you bring it up. It's just that I want to be here even when I can't. I promise that I'll try and make this work better from here on out, yeah? We'll skype three times a day. I promise you I'm trying," he tells me.
"I know you are and you support us and love us. You couldn't do anything more," I say and smile at him.
"Wuv yew wayn," Arabella says, speaking for the first time today.
"I love you too baby," Zayn says giving her a kiss on the cheek, instantly brightening his day.
"Now get bake to cooking. We have a lot to do before her birthday party," I order Zayn, standing up. He leans down and gives me a lingering kiss before saying, "anything for you girls."
