Watching the mid-season finale of spn and writing Fanfiction. My night is complete. Disclaimer: Holy shit this is long. Oops.
~Gabriel's POV~
To say Gabriel was furious was an understatement. He could barely control himself as he looked at the two people before him. Seated on the couch like they owned the place was the Novak's aunt and uncle Naomi and Bartholomew. They weren't really their aunt and uncle but everyone referred to them as such. Gabriel, however, referred to them as spineless dicks from hell.
"Well, Gabriel?" Naomi sneered. The other Novak kids were hovering nearby each of them prepared to step in and stop Gabriel from ripping their throats out. Leaned against the wall awkwardly was Crowley, a family friend, and practically a cousin. He realized he picked the wrong week to visit. Suddenly the front door was thrown open and in waltzed the three Winchesters. They practically lived there now.
"Heya Gabe... Oh, um, hi." Sam stopped observing the scene. Three new sets of eyes were upon them. Two with a look of disdain and the other curiosity.
"Who are your um... Friends?" Bartholomew asked eyeing Sam, Dean, and Michael.
"None of your damn business asshole. What are you even doing here? We all know you don't like us." Gabriel growled, aware that Sam's eyes were burning into the back of his head. He felt a comforting presence as Sam stood beside him. Sam glanced between Gabriel and the two people he had never seen before.
"I'm Sam. Those are my brothers Michael and Dean." Sam offered with a pleasant smile. Even though it would have melted Gabriel's heart he was having a hard time focusing on the teen beside him. His anger and rage directed towards Naomi and Bartholomew.
"And what exactly are you doing here?" Naomi asked sharply.
"Visiting?" Sam looked confused at the icy tone he was receiving. After all, he hadn't done anything wrong.
"Don't you know, young man, that it is rude to barge into other people's houses unannounced? Maybe you three should leave." She absentmindedly waved her hand.
"No." Lucifer stood up a bit straighter. "You're not making Gabriel's friends leave. They're all of our friends too. And they are welcome whenever they want to stop by." He snapped. "You two, however, are very unwelcome. Just wait until Raphael gets home from work. He'll have a cow."
"Ah, yes. You guardian and brother. You do know, with him being absent as often as he appears to be, we can always file a claim to you children. He is unfit to be your guardian. That much is obvious. Especially with the way you all are acting. Castiel! Fetch me a drink. Anyways, as I was saying, I would like to give the younger children of the household a proper rearing. Instead of then growing up to be..." She gestured towards the teens before her. Castiel hesitated for a moment before trudging off into the kitchen to get Naomi a drink. "Why can't you all be like Castiel? Look how well he obeys." Dean shook his head, liking the woman less and less as the minutes passed. He went to head into the kitchen but a disapproving noise stopped him. "Don't disturb the boy. He is busy doing as I asked." Dean turned around.
"Sweetheart, you're not my mother. So I'd appreciate if you'd shut the fuck up. I am going to do as I please and there is no way you're going to stop me." With that, he marched purposely into the kitchen and talked obnoxiously loud for a moment. Most of the Novak's had fled to their rooms by now, leaving Lucifer and Gabriel with the remaining Winchesters. Lucifer quickly grabbed Michael's wrist and tugged him out behind him as he noticed Naomi's eyes darken.
'Sorry Gabe, can't help you. She's scary.' Lucifer mouthed. Gabriel sighed and went to leave.
"No, sit." At first, Gabriel didn't obey. Bartholomew stood up after a moment. "I said sit." Gabriel reluctantly sat down with a wary look at Bartholomew who sat down. Sam plopped down beside Gabriel.
"So. Sam. How is it that you got Gabriel to look past his ego to befriend someone? It is usually impossible." Naomi asked. She waved away Bartholomew who got up and retreated to one of the guest bedrooms. Sam seemed to tense a little bit.
"We just kinda became friends. I was the new kid in class and he helped me out." Sam lied, leaving out the part where Gabriel was a bit of a dick and a stalker for the first week.
"Really. Interesting. I assume you already know the nature of this... Dysfunctional family? As you heard earlier Raphael is their guardian. All the kids are adopted other than Raphael. Naturally." Naomi smirked as Gabriel looked away as if he was remembering something extremely unpleasant. "Something wrong Gabriel? Would you like me to continue? I'm surprised you haven't scared the poor boy off. I mean, surely everyone knows what happens if someone gets too close to you?" She smirked. Gabriel suddenly leaped to his feet and bolted up the stairs. A door slammed and it snapped Sam into action. He jumped to his feet and raced after the short teen.
"Gabe?" He knocked on the door gently. He heard a sniffle from inside to room. He tried the door handle. Locked. "Gabe? C'mon... Let me in. Please." His voice was gentle. Instead of going back downstairs or finding someone else, Sam slipped into the bathroom. "Thank god he had sisters," Sam muttered. He grabbed a hairpin and went over to Gabriel's door. He easily picked the lock and silently slipped in. He closed the door behind him.
Gabriel was curled up on the bed, his face buried in a pillow. His shoulders shook with silent sobs. Sam's heart shattered and he moved over to Gabriel. Gabriel felt the bed dip as Sam sat down. Sam scooted back on the bed and laid beside Gabe."Ignore the bitch, Gabe." He said gently. He more or less wrapped himself around his sobbing form. Gabriel leaned back against Sam.
"S-she had no right to bring that up. Especially not the way she d-did." Gabriel's voice was shaky and it cracked with emotion. He rubbed at his eyes.
"What did she mean Gabe? Do I have to go back down there and kick here ass for hurting you?" Sam asked gently. Gabriel chuckled, a sound that made Sam smile.
"I'd pay to see that. She's scary." Gabriel turned over so he was facing Sam. He took a deep breath. "What she talking about is my family. Before the Novaks. Like most of them, I'm adopted. I can barely remember my biological parents, but from what I know my father was wrapped up in shit he shouldn't have been. And this got him killed apparently the assassin had some morals cause he didn't kill me. Obviously. But I guess as I got older I became a threat. Around ten I had changed foster homes six times. I was a problem child. Naturally. But the family I was with was able to put up with my flaws. I thought I had finally found people who'd love me... But the assassin dude took all that away. I was luckily at a friends house. But I came home and found the bodies. It was." Gabriel had to stop for a moment. Sam looked at him not with pity as Gabriel would expect, but plain sympathy. "Anyways, twelve foster homes later I get thrown in here. Yeah, mom and dad were around for a while but something happened. Raphael assured us all it was none of our faults. And he became our guardian. Dickless and the bitch show up from time to time but that's about it now." Gabriel sighed shakily. Without warning, he hid his face in Sam's chest. Sam rubbed his back gently and relaxed a bit.
"Don't worry about her Gabe. If she messes with you again..." Sam trailed off his eyes darkening a bit with anger.
"Thanks, Sammy."
