Enjoy the picture! My friend is the best!
Sam and Gabriel wandered the halls of the mall after school. Neither of them wanted to do their homework so they settled on every kid's favorite thing. Procrastination. They had hung around for a few hours just doing couple stuff. Gabriel smirked at Sam.
"I'll be back Sam, I want candy!"
"You always want candy." Sam rolled his eyes playfully. Gabriel merely shrugged and hopped off towards a candy shop. He browsed for a while, longer than a normal person. He piled candy into a bag and then bought it. By then Sam had wandered off, but he texted Gabe his location. Gabriel headed in that direction when a man stopped him. The man wrung his hands looking quite anxious.
"E-e-excuse me, sir... Could.... Could you help me, please? My service dog... She got loose. Someone spooked her and she bolted I couldn't keep a hold of her and-and..." His voice was barely above a whisper. He started to tear up. He sniffled and rubbed his eyes. "Please." Gabriel nodded quickly, not bothering to think about the fact a trusted service dog got spooked. He padded after the man.
"Where did you last see her?"
"We were by the front door... I think she might have gotten into the parking lot!" His voice stayed soft hard. for Gabriel to hear.
"Okay." Gabriel nodded. He shot a quick text to Sam, telling him what was happening in followed the man. He looked for any signs of the dog and even asked other people if they'd seen a dog without someone. The man was basically silent, Gabriel didn't notice the man wasn't attempting to look for his dog. Instead, he was watching Gabriel, making sure he was following. Gabriel hummed softly to himself. He pulled his jacket tighter around him as they stepped outside.
"It's freezing!" Gabriel squeaked. The man only nodded. They combed the parking lot endlessly in search of the dog. They made it to the more deserted part of the parking lot where Gabriel spotted a white dog sitting patiently by a car. "Is that her?" He asked. The man nodded.
"Catch her before she gets away!" His voice was still almost silent. Gabriel nodded and obediently padded over to the dog, snagging her by the collar.
"Hello, pretty girl!" He cooed. The man stumbled over.
"I'm sorry." He spoke clearly now. He grabbed his dog, clearly a service dog and took a step back. "I'm sorry kid. He paid me. He told me to. And I couldn't not obey. My dog.. She's sick. She's all I have. I couldn't afford the treatment. So when he offered money, enough I could pay for it.,. How could I refuse?!" He rambled. Gabriel had already shot Sam a frantic text. He slowly stood up, ready to bolt. A pair of gloved hands grabbed him from behind roughly. He was pulled backward as a cloth was placed over his nose and mouth.
"Too bad you're such a kind person. Your boyfriend will wonder where you disappeared to." A sinister voice Gabriel recognized said in his ear. "Never trust strangers kid." With that Gabriel's world faded black and he was tossed into the trunk of the car. Two gunshots echoed in his ears and the last thing he heard was a dog yelping and a man scream.
