A Weight Lifted Off Our Shoulders

I got back into the small uncomfortable bed. Dylan had already been awake.

"Hey," he said looking at me.

"Hey."

"Where did you go?"

"Outside I needed some fresh air."

"You got me kind of worried. I was about to call the police so they would put out an APB on you," he laughed.

I lightly slapped his shoulder. "Oh come on, I wasn't gone for that long. Was I?"

"Yeah you were."

"Sorry."

"It's okay while you were gone I made a call to some of your friends. They'll be visiting you soon."

"Oh my god. It's been a long time since I've seen them. Thank you Dylan," I said and kissed him.

"You're welcome. I bet you're tired get some rest. I'll talk to you in the morning. Goodnight."

"Goodnight."

I woke up to flowers and balloons. Sarah and Kadin were standing by my bed.

"Andrea! It's so good to see you!" Sarah said and hugged me. "Oh my god I can't believe this happened to you."

"Yeah I still can't believe it either."

"Hey Andrea," Kadin said hugging me.

"Hey there."

"I'm sorry we haven't visited sooner. Here we brought you some flowers and balloons."

"Thank you Sarah. Thank you both for visiting it means a lot."

"We've both missed you believe it or not and we both care about you."

"Thank you, Kadin. I'm glad to have such great friends like you."

My mother came in the room. "Well good news everyone. Andrea can go home now. She has recovered."

Thank goodness.

That night I looked outside my window. Things will get better before they get worse I keep hearing Jewel's voice in my head.

The sound of receiving a new email startled me.I looked to see what it said.

We need to talk. Meet me outside. - Dad

I stared at the message and stayed still. Then I heard Jewel's voice in my head again. So I decided to go talk to him. 

I went outside and there he stood near the tree in the backyard.  

"I'm glad you came. We need to talk," he said in a very serious tone.

"I figured that's why you emailed me late at night. What is it?"

"Look I'm sorry if I caused a lot of complications but I just wanted to see you and tell you that you turned out great. Your mother took care of you and I never thought she would."

"Well she's supposed to she's my mother and you thought wrong."

"I'm sorry for almost getting you killed could you ever forgive me?"

"I'm not sure maybe in time."

"Well in the mean time you can live your life the way you're supposed to."

"Where are you going?"

"Somewhere were I won't be able to cause you any harm. I'm really sorry. Really. And I can tell that that boy you're with really cares about you. You have everything I could never give you and it was wrong for me to come and interfere."

"Will I ever see you again?"

"Maybe soon."

"Thank you for understanding."

He gave me a small nob and left. 

A weight finally lifted off my shoulders.
