Temptation

A Slow Dance

I couldn't sleep. My mind felt like it was spinning around and around in circles. I kept on tossing and turning in my sheets. This whole situation with my father popping out of nowhere was bothering the heck out of me. I looked over at the clock. It read 11:00. Ugh. Why can't I just go to sleep. I grabbed a pillow and pushed it violently on my face.

There was a vibrating sound coming from my drawer. I threw the pillow on the floor and sat up to see what it was. My hair was all over my face. It was my phone. I had just gotten a text from Dylan.

It read: Come outside.

He's up right now? I thought he would be asleep. Hmm I wonder what this is all about.

I went outside and found Dylan waiting outside my house. He was leaning against his motorcycle.

"Dylan? What are you doing up I thought you would be asleep right now?"

"Well... I figured you would be awake because of the whole thing with your father. So.. I wanted to do something special for you to get your mid of this situation. "

"How thoughtful."

"Well come on. Don't just stand there. Hop on. You're in for an amazing surprise."

I looked back at my house. Dylan saw the worried look on my face.

"Does your mom approve of this?"

I sighed. "She probably doesn't but it doesn't even matter anyway. She's with my dad and I just need some space from them right now."

"Are you sure?"

I got on the motorcycle and sat behind him. I put my arms around his waist. "I'm positive. Now let's go. I want to see this "amazing surprise" you speak of."

He turned to look at me and smiled. "Alright." And we drove off.

It was a starry and cool night. There was a breeze that flew past me making my hair flow. We passed so many trees and streetlights. I never realized how beautiful the city was at night.

We finally came to a stop. As we got off Dylan took my hand and followed me to our destination. It was a cute little house near a small lake. The top of the trees were surrounded by beautiful blue lights that reflected in the water.

"Do you like it?"

I spun around in circles. I was so amazed at the place I couldn't stop looking at it. "I think in this case the word "like" is an understatement."

He smiled and walked over to the bench next to a lit up tree. On that bench was a stereo. He turned it on and the song Always and Forever by Heatwave came on.

He walked over to me and held out his hand. "Andrea Chandler, may I have this dance?"

I took his hand. "Yes, you may."

We stood in front of the boathouse around the trees. I wrapped my arms around his shoulders and he wrapped his arms around my waist. We slowed danced.

I rested my head on his chest. "I love you, Dylan."

He stroked my hair. "I love you too, Andrea."

He lifted my head to his and we kissed. Soon after that everything started to disappear. My thoughts, worries, complications, everything faded away and it was just us together. Side by side dancing in the beautiful starry night.
