As soon as we get back to the house I go into my room. I unpack with a certain, calm demeanor, even humming a little. Pete and Patrick had managed to completely move in to the rest of the house. There's no more boxes or sheets strung about. There's even black sheets on my bed now. There's also two pillows, without cases at the head. Regardless, it's still the nicest place I've ever stayed.

My clothes are all folded and hung up. All my school things are stored in the desk. Everything seems in order. It's the first time I've felt like everything really does have a place. Even if we are only here for about a month, it still feels more like a home than the place I had spent the majority of my life.

I sigh and lay back on my bed, staring up at the ceiling. There's a light in the center, burning a bright white light. I squint at it as I let my mind wander. It seems like this is the first time I've had to relax since this whole adoption thing. These past few days seem to have lasted weeks.

Just as my eyes close to block out the light, there's a knock at the door.

"Hey, Luce?" Its Patrick. I don't know really who else it could be, besides Pete.

"Yeah?" I call back to him.

"Pete and I have something for you." He says it in an almost sing-song voice. I can practically hear his smile.

"Get your butt out here!" I hear Pete a little more faint. I let out a breathy laugh at that. Propping myself up, I trudge to the door. Suddenly feeling tired. I push at the brass handle and see both, Pete and Patrick in the living room. Patrick's holding something behind his back as Pete tries to mess with it. I give them a skeptical look as I approach them.

"What?" I ask hesitantly.

"We got 'cha a present," Pete grins.

"Oh, God," I mumble. I can only imagine what they got me.

"Hey! Don't be so critical just yet." Patrick's smiling too. I roll my eyes.

"Fine, what is it?" They look at each other, grin some more, then Pete sticks out a hand, holding box of some sort.

"Happy adoption day!" He waves it in front of me. I reach for it and he presents it all important-like. As far as I can tell its just a white box with a clear, snap on top. I take it to get a closer look and my heart jumps.

"No way..." I whisper under my breath. I hear Patrick chuckle above me. Quickly, I pull off the top to look at what's inside. Its a black IPhone 5. Not the most pristine phone, but the best present they could've gotten me. I throw myself into a hug at them, laughing when they stumble back a little.

"Thanks," is all I say.

Around six-thirty Ashley shows up, case of beer in hand.

"Whoop! House party!" She had yelled as she let herself in. Patrick had immediately to make sure she wasn't planning on inviting fifty other people and trashing the place. Pete and I just stood back and laughed.

At one point a tall guy with dark swoopy hair comes in. He's got a bag hanging off his shoulder. He claps Pete on the back and gives Patrick a side-hug.

"Hey, I'm Brendon." He grins at me.

"Lucy." I can't help but smile back.

"So you're the new addition to the family." He starts to pull his bag off and sets it on the dining table where there's a couple bags of chips and some plastic cups. Nothing special, we didn't expect too many people.

"Guess so." I shrug as he turns back to Me. He grins again and holds out mound of black fabric.

"Your gonna need at least one cool shirt." He looks down at my Halsey shirt and I can hear Ashley yelling at him from the kitchen. He just howls with laughter.

"Thanks," I laugh a little and take the shirt. He tossles my hair and pulls something else out of the bag to take over to Pete. Probably more alcohol.

I hold up the shirt to examine it. It turns out to be a sweater with long pink sleeves and the logo for a band called Panic! At The Disco. I figure it must be Brendon's band and go to put it away in my room.

While I'm shoving the shirt into my dresser the door is knocked on twice more. The first voice I don't reconize, the other two I do. I rush out to greet my friends, happy for the company. On my way I almost run into a guy with a big fluff of hair atop his head. He laughs and moves out of my way.

"Whoa, traffic zone."

"Sorry," I giggle a little up at him. "I'm Lucy."

"Nice to meet 'cha, I'm-"

"Joe Troh with the fro!" The guy is cut off by a now slightly tipsy Patrick. "Luce, this is out gutairist, Joe."

"Hi." I wave a little.

"Hey." He chuckles and turns to Patrick. "I can only stay for a little, I wanted to stop in while I could though."

"Glad you did. Pete's in the kitchen." He beckons the guy towards the aforementioned room. "Your friends are in the living room." He informs me at the last second. I nod and go off to greet them.

"Lucy!" James grins from the couch.

"Hey." Echo says cooly. I smile at both of them.

"Fancy seein' you here." I joke. "Look what I got." I pull out my new phone. I had messed with it a bit before, but I was really hoping they'd help me out.

"Ooh," Echo hops up as I sit on the arm of the couch. He stands very close in front of me. I can smell his colonge, its not bad though. He taps at if for a second before sitting on the cushion next to me. James leans over to examine the screen. He taps out a few things I can't see as well.

"Get Spotify." James instructs him. I don't question it. The next half hour or so is spent like this. Eventually I get uncomfortable on the arm so I make Echo move over so I can sit beside them. Of course its not very much so I'm pretty much just sitting in his lap. He doesn't say anything though. They download copious apps and stock my Spotify with music. Their contacts were the first thing in. I can't deny that I'm not grateful for not having to do it myself. I honestly would've have no idea what I was doing.

The party if fairly uneventful. We have a lot of candy and soda and eventually end up in my room. James looks through some of my old drawings, convincing me to actually hang a couple of them above my desk. Brendon and Ashley leave around ten. Pete and Patrick invite us out for a movie, but James has to leave. It's just Pete, Patrick, Echo, and me, all sitting in the living room. Echo and I take the armchairs facing off on either side of the living room while Pete and Patrick are sitting closely on the couch.

About halfway through the movie Patrick starts to doze off. Pete wakes him up the first couple of times, calling him a grandpa. Eventually he decides to just lead him up the stairs to bed though.

Its only about eleven and Echo says his mom won't be back until three am. We go ahead and browse through the Netflix for a while, having migrated to the couch, leaning against each other.

I really really really really can't wait until the next part is posted. I've been doing a lot of prewriting and I'm hoping for more scheduled updates like at least every other day.
