Later that night, I'm sad to see Echo go. He tells me he'll pick me up to hang out tomorrow morning. He had planned to take me for coffee with his uncle and cousin before he had to go to work and drop his cousin off at her friend's.

I'm happy to see him the next morning parked outside the house in the used Ford truck he got for his sixteenth birthday. I'm dressed in a somewhat nice outfit of a knee-length skirt and a tucked in sweater. I put on tights and my boots because despite the fact it's LA, it's frickin cold out.

I yell a goodbye to Pete and Patric who've taken the week of Christmas off of their work to spend at home. They're planning on starting decorating, I'm just hoping by the time I get home they'll have finally gotten the tree up.

I tuck my phone into my sleeve and walk down the driveway and climb into Echo's truck. He leans over and kisses me over the console. My phone vibrates silently, I ignore it, knowing that it's probably Jayden. He called me a couple of times last night, but I wasn't ready to tell him anything.

"Ready to go?" Echo asks, I nod and crank up the heater. I start absentmindedly flicking through the radio stations before landing on a oldies station I deem acceptable.

The drive to the Starbucks were meeting at can't be more than a couple of minutes, but it seems much faster as my nervousness grows. Echo talks to keep my mind occupied, noticing my bouncing knee that he sets a hand on to still. By the time we're walking up to the door of the coffee shop, he's gripping my fingers to keep them from shaking so much.

I laugh at myself lightly. "I'm sorry, E. I don't know why I'm so nervous." He just smiles softly at me, sliding his fingers in small circles on the back of my hand.

"You have nothing to worry about. They'll love you." I smile back gratefully, giving his hand a squeeze before he guides me over to a table where a man in his mid-fourties sits with a girl who can't be much older than eleven, tapping at her phone.

"Hi Uncle Roy, Tessa. Uh, this is Lucy, my girlfriend." Roy looks up, and grins at me.

"She's beautiful Eathen!" He exclaims. "Sit down, I'll go get coffee. What can I get you guys?"

We list off somewhat simple orders, I just stick with a mocha. We sit down in the chairs opposite Tessa and Roy's. Echo's cousin lifts her head, giving him a nod and landing on me.

"And why exactly are you dating my butt of a cousin?" She makes a face at Echo. "I mean have you seen him?" I crack a smile as Echo protests.

"It's ok E, we both know I'm out of your league." I grin and knock my shoulder against him best I can while sitting. Echo just presses a kiss to my cheek.

"Damn right you are." I giggle and watch Tessa make a face.

"Ew, PDA." I laugh. Ehco laces our fingers beneath the table as Roy comes back with our coffee.

"So, uh how long have you two been together?" Roy asks, setting down the drink carrier.

"Four months last week, right." I squeeze his hand and smile at him. Roy then proceeds to question me about school and my family and Echo and my relationship.

Overall, I have a pretty good time. His uncle seems nice enough, a little talkative, but without his questions it would probably be oddly quiet. Tessa spends most of her time on her phone, but mutters a sarcastic remark and smiles every once in a while.

Around nine, Roy leaves to go to work. Echo and I knock back the rest of our coffee, Tessa still sipping on her iced tea. She's eager to leave though when we stand up. She sits in the middle of the backseat of Echo's truck. I ask her about her friends as Echo drives, one hand resting on my leg as I twist around to talk to Tessa about her favorite Netflix show.

He smiles at the both of us when he pulls up to an impressive looking house that she says her friend lives in. I wave goodbye out the window and turns around and waves back on the front porch before walking straight into the house.

"Just you and me now, Luce." I hum and lean over the console as he takes off down the street. I press a light kiss to his cheek. I lean into his shoulder, lacing our fingers.

"Where are we going?" I ask, looking around as he takes what seems like purposeful turns.

"You'll see. I used to go there when I was a kid." I hum, deeming his explanation acceptable.

He drives for a couple of minutes more. I play with the dials on the dash. Eventually he's pulling into a seemingly deserted baseball field. The grass is over grown and the lines painted in the dirt are faded.

He doesn't even park in the torn up asphalt parking lot. He pulls into the outfield, turning off his truck and looking over at me.

"I used to play baseball with my friends here when I was like ten." He grins, thinking away into his own world. I squeeze his hand.

"I didn't know you like baseball."

He shrugs. "Not so much more. C'mon let's lay in the back." He gets out of the truck and I soon follow suit. We climb into the back of the truck, he pulls a couple of blankets out of the tool box linked onto the cab of the truck. He lays one down then one to lie on top of us. I settle between the thick quilts, lying my head on his chest as he runs his fingers through my hair.

He presses a kiss into my hair, I roll over to face him before leaning down and kissing him fully on the lips. He smiles against my lips, wrapping his hands into my hair and pulling me down against him. I tuck a leg between his and lie on top of him. One of his hands slide beneath my shirt and up my back. I shiver at his cold fingers. His tongue slides against my lips, I open my mouth just as my phone begins relentlessly buzzing in the waistband of my skirt where it currently resides. I sigh and pull back, taking my phone from my skirt as I move my legs to straddle Echo as I look at the caller ID and answer the call.

"Hey, Pete." I chuckle lightly as Echo's hand trails up my thigh, tickling a little. "Sorry, I uh, couldn't find my phone."

"That's fine," Pete says, sounding a little distracted. "Patrick and I just got the tree up. Do you and Echo wanna come back home and decorate it?"

"Sure, we'll be there in like twenty minutes."

"Ok, see you soon, kiddo."

"Bye." I hang up the call and climb off of Echo though he pouts. "Come on, we have to decorate the Christmas tree." He sighs.

"Fine, there better be cookies." I smile.

"I'm sure there will be."
