Omniscient
Jada woke up to an empty bed and was somewhat relieved. She got out of bed and went into the bathroom to brush her teeth. She put her hair in a messy bun, washed her face, then went downstairs. The front door opened and August walked in holding a duffel bag. He quickly went upstairs and got in the shower.
Jada went into the kitchen and made herself some breakfast. She called Shamar for the umpteenth time, it went straight to voicemail. She hung up and folded her arms across her chest.
She put her plate in the sink then slipped on her Nike Slides. She grabbed her keys and drove to the Tattoo Parlor where he worked.
"Can I help you?" A man asked, when she entered.
"Is Shamar here?" She asked holding her right arm.
"No, he didn't show up for work today."
"Ok...thanks...I guess."
Jada walked out just as her phone started ringing. Assuming that it was Shamar, she answered it without looking at the screen.
"SHAMAR!! I've been calling you. Where are you?" She said getting into her car.
"Um...sorry but this is Lani your best friend."
"Oh...hey Lani."
"You're still thinking about Shamar?"
"Yeah, it's not like him to miss so many calls without calling me back."
"Maybe seeing you caused him to rethink everything. Not to mention you was with another guy."
"Which is why I'm trying to get in touch with him."
"Why are you so concerned about Shamar when you have August?"
"I don't want August! I want Shamar."
"I can tell."
"Not like that! It's just I need to know he's alright."
"No, what you need is to go to the club and escape for once."
"I don't think that's a good idea."
"Don't care you're coming."
Before Jada could protest, Lani hung up.
Jada sighed heavily as she walked inside, she went upstairs and took a shower. She put on some black sweatpants and a red sweatshirt.
She walked into the bedroom and laid down. She felt the bed shift and opened her eyes to see August laying there.
"Hey sleepy head." He said leaning closer to her.
"Get away from me." She said turning over to face the window.
"What's ya problem?"
"You're my problem."
"Tell me what I did wrong."
He snaked his hands around her waist, pulling her closer to his body.
"This isn't going to work."
