Chapter 17: Alone Again (Omniscient POV only)

Jada turned off the TV and pulled out her laptop along with its charger. She  unlocked her computer and pulled up Netflix. She logged in and clicked on Pretty Little Liars.

She had to keep going back because she wasn't focused on the show. She picked up her phone from the nightstand and unlocked it. She dialed August's number then put the phone to her ear. Of course it went straight to voicemail.

"He probably hates me." She thought to herself as she dialed his number again. "Maybe I shouldn't have been so rude about it."

Her eyes scanned the room as she listened intently to the phone ringing. It went to voicemail again. She felt like a stalker as she dialed his number for the third time.

A female answered his phone.

Hello? Who is this and why are you calling my man?

Excuse me what?

You heard me don't play dumb. Stop calling him he doesn't want you.

Before Jada could say anything the female on the other end hung up. Jada put her phone down then picked it back up. She decided to send August a long text:

Jada👸🏽: If I offended you I'm sorry but you need to teach your thots some manners. If you don't want to deal with me, I understand but our children shouldn't have to suffer because of it.

Jada put her phone down and started watching Pretty Little Liars. It was easier to focus on the show now that she  had gotten that off her chest.

Jada's phone vibrated indicating she had a text:

August: It's not that I don't want to talk to you it's just I have a lot on my mind and I don't  want to hurt you and the kids in the process.

Jada👸🏽: I'm not worried about you or myself the only people I care about are the kids. They don't deserve to be treated like that, if you didn't want to be around them then you shouldn't have gotten me pregnant in the first place.

Jada tossed her phone onto the bed and resumed her show. Jada's phone began vibrating and August's name appeared on the screen.

She decided not to answer since she didn't want to argue with August. Her phone stopped vibrating then she got another text from August:

August: You said that you could forgive me but clearly that was all an act. It's obvious that you don't want me around and I don't blame you so from now I'll be there for the kids I'll take care of my responsibilities and you don't have to worry about me coming onto you because I've already found someone. Don't hit me up unless it's about the kids.

Jada wanted to send him a long paragraph explain why she was being so distant but instead she decided to be petty.

Jada👸🏽: K

Meanwhile...
August looked at his phone expecting to see a paragraph or 2 but instead all he got was a "K". He sighed heavily and looked over at Cathy.

"Who was that?" She asked sitting up.

"Don't worry about it."

"Are you ready to go back to ATL?"

"Yeah."

He leaned back against the headrest and closed his eyes as Cathy got on the highway heading towards Georgia.

"Cathy?" August asked waking up from his nap.

"Yeah August?" She asked glancing over at him before returning her gaze to the road.

"Can we go back to NOLA."

"Why?"

"Because I said so."

"Damn who pissed in yo cheerios this morning?" Cathy mumbled under her breath hoping august didn't hear her.

"What did you say?"

"Nothing, can you change the gps to your mom's house then?"

"Yeah, but don't think I didn't hear you."

Cathy rolled  her eyes as she followed the GPS's directions to New Orleans.

Back To Jada
Jada got out of the bed and began pacing back and forth. The door opened and the doctor walked in holding a clipboard.

"How are you feeling?"

"I'm feeling the exact same way I felt when you asked me that 10 minutes ago." Jada replied getting annoyed.

"Sorry."

"I never got your name."

"My apologies my name is Dr. Banks."

Jada and Dr. Banks shook hands and smiled politely at each other.

"So where's your husband?"

"My husband?"

"Yes, the man that was here with you."

"That wasn't my husband." Jada said laughing as she walked over to the window, she looked out into the parking lot hoping August would forgive her and come back.

"He really cares about you. He wouldn't leave your side."

"Until now." Jada mumbled.

"It's getting late, try to get some rest."

"I don't need rest, I've been taking naps throughout the day."

"Well try to relax and if you need anything the call button is right here. And don't worry the nurses here are really nice."

"Ok, thanks for everything but, I'm fine."
