Chapter 21: 💋J.R pt. 1

"Why would he text me and not you?" Lani asked, tightening her grip on the steering wheel.

"I don't know ask him." I said picking up her phone and unlocking it.

"And what do you suppose he's going to say?"

"I don't know but I'm not going to sit around and play his stupid little game."

Lani pulled into a convenient store parking lot and we both went inside and got 2 burner phones. We walked back outside and I put in the number that had texted Lani before typing away at the screen.

Jessie: I don't have time for your games, everyone knows that you're the snake that double crossed Ghost and I don't appreciate you sending him after me. If something happens to my family so help me god I will come after you. 💋J.R

I showed Lani the text before pressing send, she nodded after she finished reading.

"Are you sure he's going to catch on to the ending?"

"He should, he's the one that gave me that name." I replied turning off the phone and tucking it away in my bag.

We got in the car and drove to the hair store. We went inside and began browsing the shelves in search of the perfect wig. Once I found it I went to the front to pay for it.

My phone began vibrating in my pocket, I took it out and looked at it. My Nana was calling probably to give her useless advice. I rolled my eyes as I answered it.

Hello?

Jada, your friend came back."

What did he want?

He really wants to talk to you.

He left his number this time.

What's his number?

555-178-3573.

Is he still there?

No, he left as soon as he gave me his number.

Be careful alright. He can't be trusted.

I love you.

I love you too Nana.

I hung up the phone then got in Lani's car, I stared out the window debating whether or not I should text Ghost right away.

"Text him, you know he's always has a thing for you." Lani said nudging my shoulder.

"How did you-"

"We've been best friends for years now, I can practically read your mind."

"Whatever. I'll just keep it short and sweet."

I pulled out the burner phone out of my purse and typed in the number my Nana had given me.

Jessie: I know what you want. Meet me tonight at 9pm at our usual spot don't be late. 💋J.R

I pressed send and turned the phone off again, i didn't bother waiting to see if he was going to reply because I knew he would want to meet up. We pulled up in the front of the house and went inside. Thankfully nobody else was home. I went upstairs to my room and grabbed the black dress bag that I had in the back of my closet along with a shoe box with shoes that I sworn to leave in the past.

"Are you almost ready to go?" Lani asked knocking on my door.

"Yeah, I just need to grab some more stuff." I said walking over to the safe and opening it.

I filled a small duffel bag with 10 stacks. I layered it with clothes then closed the safe and put the picture frame back where it was. I followed Lani downstairs and left a note for the boys just in case they got there before we got back.

We got in my car and drove to a motel just outside of town and I pulled out the phone and turned it back on to check to see if Ghost had sent me a text message.

Ghost: If you think I'm going to fall into your trap, you're sadly mistaken.  I'm the one that taught you everything you know don't even think about it Roger.

I looked over at Lani and smirked as I thought about all the possible replies that I could send him.

"He thinks you're-"

"Yeah I know he does."

Jessie: I don't know what you're talking about I'm J.R and I can prove it. Just meet me and see for yourself.

Ghost: Well I'm at the usual spot
right now if you're really J.R  then you'll know where to meet me.

Jessie: See you soon. 💋

I turned the phone off and got back on the highway playing my Slow Jams playlist. I stopped at the motel a few miles away from the spot where I was supposed to meet Ghost. I parked the car then went up to the front desk and booked a room signing it with my alias, Jessica R. I paid cash then took the key and walked to my room.  I unlocked the front door and did the usual inspection to make sure it was clean enough for me to get ready in. I walked back to the car and grabbed the bag with the cleaning supplies in it. Lani and I cleaned the room and I got in the shower scrubbing my whole body down.

After my shower, I got dressed, did my makeup, and slipped on my wig. Lani smiled at me as I gave her a hug and grabbed the keys to my car. I left my actual phone on the dresser and got in my car making sure to lock the door behind me.

This is going to be a long night...
