Jada
Lani and I walked along the trail behind the house. A part of me expected someone to jump out and grab which is why carried a stainless steel heavy duty flashlight. The sun was shining but it was the only thing I could think to grab before we left.

"Why are you carrying that thing?" Lani asked pointing at the flashlight that I gripped tightly in my left hand.

"If you've been through what I've been through ever since I meet August you would be carrying this thing too." I replied calmly.

"I thought you told August you forgave him."

"I lied." Lani gave me a puzzled look. "I only said that so he would stop asking me to forgive him."

"That was wrong." Lani shook her head in disapproval. "You got this man thinking there's a chance that you two will be one big happy family."

"And he got me thinking that his crazy ass is going to put me in the trunk of his car and kidnap me again."

"You have to forgive him."

"What?!" I yelled. "Are you stupid?! I will never ever forgive that man!"

"You need to let that go."

"You're supposed to be my best friend not his!" I yelled feeling myself getting pissed. "Why are you trying to defend him?!"

Lani stood there in silence, I turned and started walking towards the houses.

"You need to go see a therapist!"

I ignored her and went inside, as soon as I walked inside I went upstairs and started pacing back and forth. My bedroom door opened and August walked in, I stopped pacing and moved closer to the crystal vase on the nightstand.

"Are you alright?" August asked taking a step closer to me.

"Yeah I'm fine." I replied inching closer to the nightstand. "What do you want?"

"Why are you running from me?"

"I'm not running from you." I stood between the broom and vase. "I just don't want you to come any closer."

August stopped and looked at me, I could tell that he was confused. I glanced around the room trying to avoid eye contact.

"I need you to leave right now."

"Jada, are you sure you're alright?"

I nodded my head and grabbed the broom and pretended to sweep the floor.

"I just need to be alone."

"Just know that I'm always going to be here for you."

"That's the problem." I thought to my self. "You're always here."

As August walked out the room, I laid the broom up against the wall. There was still something about August that rubbed me the wrong way. For starters whenever I mentioned Shamar he would tense up and change the subject.

I walked over to the door and opened it, I walked downstairs and Lani glanced at me. I grabbed my car keys and looked over Justice and AJ. They both made their way to me, I smiled and brought them out to the car with me. I buckled them securely in the backseat, I got in the front seat and drove to the grocery store.

I got out the car and grabbed a carriage with the double seat and put Aj and Justice inside. I went inside and started putting stuff into the carriage as we searched through the aisles. My phone vibrated in my back pocket but, I didn't bother taking it out. I knew it was either August, Chris, or Lani and I didn't want to be bothered with neither one of them.
