Jada
Lani and I walked into the kitchen to see Chris and August setting the table.

"It smells great in here." I said walking over to the sink to wash my hands.

"Almost as good as our cooking." Lani added.

"Oh Jada some friends of yours stopped by." August said as he handed me a plate of food.

"Looks good." Lani said rubbing rr hands together.

"What did they want?" I asked.

"They didn't say. They were going to wait for you to come back but, something came up."

I slowly nodded my head as I took a bite of my chicken.

"How do you know these guys?" Chris asked. "They seemed like they really wanted to talk to you."

"What did they look like?" Lani asked while I tried to show the fact that I was a little worried.

"They were both kinda tall." August said.

"And one of them was tan."

"Probably someone from high school." I said in a reassuring tone. "If it's that important they'll come back."

I felt August's left hand on my thigh. I looked over at him for a second before I continued eating.

"Dinner was great." I said taking August's hand off my thigh.

I got up to clear the table but August stopped me.

"What do you think you're doing?"

"I'm trying to clear the table. What does it look like I'm doing?"

August and Chris both stood up and began gathering the dishes. Lani and I exchanged a quick look before getting up and leaving the kitchen.

"Why are they acting so strange?" I asked Lani once we were out of earshot.

"Maybe August's trying to get lucky tonight." She joked nudging me with her elbow.

I playfully rolled my eyes as I sat down on the couch.

"So who do you think came by?" Lani asked.

"I don't know." I said.

I had a pretty good idea but, I didn't want to drag Lani into it.

"Yeah you do." She said. "And you're planning something."

"I think it's better if you don't know." I looked down at my hands. "I can't see you getting hurt anymore."

"I'm not as fragile as you think I am." I could feel her stare. "We're in this -together."

"I'm pretty sure Leo and Ghost came here."

"Isn't Leo supposed to be out of the country?"

I sighed.

"Remember when we went to that diner?"

"To meet Ghost?"

"Yeah, Leo was there."

"And you didn't think to tell me?!"

"Keep your voice down." I turned to her.

"Why didn't you tell me?"
