Chapter 61

One day passes...

Two night's gone by...

It's been a week by now, I have not yet heard from Nick. I wasn't really expecting it either but if he calls it doesn't hurt to know he worries right? For the past week Demi and Joe has avoided everything that can possibly remind me of Nick.

They know what's going on now, Joe isn't taking sides nor is he supporting Nick for doing this. Especially when he knows that Nick acknowledges everything that Samantha has done to him, but still takes her in.

I wonder sometimes... is this what love really is? Taking someone in even though they've betrayed you, hurt you and... you can still accept them for who they are?

Thinking of Nick just irritates me right now. Another weeks gone by, that makes it two weeks and three days... Nick and I haven't spoken since, no ones given me news of him. Sometimes I would hear Demi and Joe talking in the kitchen, whispering about Nick's situation, I then would put on my head phones and pretended I wasn't listening.

But honestly... I am, I miss him.

I want to know what's going on in his life, within the 2 weeks and 3 days without me. But the last time I've heard which was probably last Thursday, Demi and Joe were saying how Nick distracts himself from rough thoughts by going to Samantha's everyday to help her around and even sometimes he stays over.

That's when I completely drowned myself in music, and out of this harsh reality we call life.

"SELENA!" I heard my name be called from outside my room. Joe and Demi let me stay in the guest room, for sakes of my circumstances right now.

I rushed out quickly to the living room, "What?"

"Nick is coming up," Demi panicked, she stood by the window looking out to the streets.

"What?" I panicked as well, rushed over to the window and see Nick walking into our building. I turned to Demi, "God, Demi what do I do?"

She thinks for a while, "Hide in Joe's and my room!"

"OK!" I rushed to their room and closed the door shut, just in time the doorbell rings. And I could hear Demi open the door and greeted Nick.

"Hi Demi," Nick said, he was out of tone, not his usual happy ways.

"Hi Nick, are you looking for Joe? He's out at the studio," I heard Demi reply next.

"Oh..." he pauses, "I guess I'll find him there then, thanks."

"Uh yea.. no problem," their voices became distant, then a few moments later I heard the door close. And no voice but Demi's what audible.

The knock rings now, in the room I hid in. I opened it, afraid so I peeked out with my head first to assure Nick wasn't anywhere around, just Demi.

"He's gone," she said with a faint smile.

"Thanks sis," I smiled at her in relief, patting on her shoulder with one hand. I suppose I started to frown, because of what she says next.

"C'mon don't, pout, let me treat you to lunch," Demi says cheerfully, headlocking me.

I giggle and nodded, "Let's go."

We got changed for lunch, Demi took me to a restaurant nearby their home. We out on the patio, and watched the events the played on, on the streets as we ate. The silence between bites wasn't awkward with Demi, probably because she was my sister and its understandable of how I felt right now.

She just sat there and we ate in silence. Until she gasps, catching me off guard.

"What?" I asked, then looked up to see Nick standing by the fence with Samantha. We met eye to eye right that instance, I could feel my heart race.

He looked different but not like how Hollywood would mock a person who's been depressed. He was matter of fact very cleaned up, no scrubby beard, bad fashion like the stereotypical drunkard Hollywood tries to immitate.

But what's different was that the smile that was always on his face, turned into a frown.

"Selly, you want to go?" Demi asks me, in her sister concerned-alert.

I shook my head and turned to her, "I have to face him one day, might as well now."

Just as I say so, him and Samantha walks over. They stood in front of our table, her with that arrogant smile, the smirk that she makes when she stood in front. Nick just looked awfully uncomfortable, standing in front of us.

"I heard Nick kicked you out," Samantha implies in her bitchy tone.

I looked at Nick, who remained silent and just stared down at me, "I left."

"Good, because we're getting married next month and we need to remove all your belongings, we need that room for our nursery room," she announces, proudly she was. That's when Demi and I saw her already noticable baby bump.

I didn't want to make a scene in public. But I was hoping for the slightest sympathy in him, hoping to at least hear him defense me.

"I'll get my stuff out whenever you're available," I said, staring at Nick in disbelief.

He stares back at me, and first time hearing his voice since an hour ago.

"Let's go babe, it's not worthy of our time here," I hear Nick say, as he wrapped his arm around her petite waist that has expanded because of the baby.

I heard Demi gawk at Nick's words, "Well excuse you? What's that attitude?"

"C'mon," Nick rolls his eyes, dragging Samantha with him, then turns once before he goes, "I'll text you about time."

I just nodded, not looking at him anymore.

Then he was gone... gone with her.

"Can he be any more disrespectful," Demi gushes, feeling offended. I was distracted watching him walk off with, while Demi nagged of his rude manners.

I think I am hopeless in this picture of theirs. I shouldn't be here, this isn't my place to be. Newport was a better settlement for me.

Just nanna and me.

I turned to Demi finalizing what was on my mind for the past week.

"Demi I think I'm going to leave... at least for a while, away from this drama. I don't belong here."
