Nick's day was going just like usual at the office, until his assistant informed him that his brother was coming in.
His brother, Joseph entered. He was in his typical attire, a graphic shirt and a pair of jeans. Alongside his right shoulder he carried his camera bag. He treated himself to some mint Nick had on his desk and sat across from him.
"Hello my fellow little one," Joe teases as he chews on the mento.
Nick's eyes were still on the screen as his fingers did it's work and punched in different keys, "What do you want Joe?"
"How are you feeling?" Joe asked, he wasn't aware of Nick's new roommate.
"So far so great," Nick let out a huff as he flipped the document and continued to punch in the keys. He was preoccupied by the amount of work thats starting to pile up.
"Well look, mom and dad are having a breakfast thing this Saturday at the country club. She says for all of us to go, its a must and..." Joe looked hesitant with his last words, catching Nick's attention.
As if it was his first time since Joe was here, Nick looks up at him, "What?"
"She doesn't know about Samantha." He replied.
Nick nods and gets back to his work, "Isn't it obvious, I haven't been talking to neither mom or dad?"
"Nick you have to talk to them some point, plus they'll be throwing you a birthday party anyways," Joe points out, he got up with his camera bag. "Don't be late, you have to be there."
"Where are you off to?" Nick sighed in retreat.
"Back home, mom asked me to help her run some errands, I took the day off anyways." Joe answers and closes the door, "Be there."
He slides back down his chair and rubs temples. He doesn't want to face his parents with all those questions they'll be asking when he doesn't bring Samantha. They weren't a total fan of her, but if he tells them the truth they will make a big thing out of it. Especially his father.
When he got home from that dreadful day, Selena was at home preparing dinner like usual. He felt as if he was in a married life. Selena tries her best to make healthy decisions with her meals, she needs to stay balance since she was a dancer.
The past two couple of days Nick's mind was clustered with the thought of seeing his parents at the breakfast event the coming Saturday. He thought that maybe bringing Selena, wouldn't cause that big of a scene, although there were going to be guest over. But again... His mother would invite the family over for the afternoon and hangout.
On the Friday night, he came home and saw a note on the counter. Yesterday he was still able to have a small dinner with Selena before she left to the club but tonight, there was just a note on the counter saying she left but there were some left over chicken in the fridge.
Nick decided to go down to the club to find her. He hoped she wasn't doing the last number again, because he wanted to treat her dinner and ask her to go with him the next day.
It was Friday, the street was obviously crowded, especially the clubs. They were crowded and the flow of people were barely making it in to the clubs. The line ups were still long and people were stumbling their way across the streets. The lights on the street were pretty and the excitement on the street lit up the mood.
He got a seat at the same table as last time. Except this time the room was a bit more crowded. The show started and dancers started coming out.
Maybe they do different things at each show, but this night was just different. The theme was different, it wasn't just all hip hop and jazz, the music was more...
Seductive?
