[A/N] Lmao, Fluffy Tsuki will be next. Just wanted this to be a reminder to you all to hold everything you love close to you because you won't know what's going to happen soon and you'll miss them when you know they're gone forever.
**************************************************************************************

Yamaguchi was her best friend ever since she could remember along with Tsuki. They had fun together since childhood and they had felt that they didn't need anyone else. They made promises with each other that they would be by each other's side forever and ever.

As they grew older, feelings began to change but they were still young and their friendship was still intact and strong. Other kids teased them but they ignored those and stayed together.

They grew older, more mature. They soon came to the point of knowing what crushes felt like and the idea of loving another in a different way that friendship or family love. And that was when (L/n) (F/n) knew she liked Yamaguchi in more than a friend way.

But, the disappointment was... he fell in love with another girl. Pretty, confident and popular. (F/n) knew she couldn't compare to Miraki but she stayed with the freckled boy, encouraging him to pursue the pretty girl despite the slowly cracking of her heart.
Around four months later, Miraki and Yamaguchi started dating, much to the school student population surprise. (F/n) was happy for them but had a little suspicion on the popular girl but kept quiet.

Three days later, she knew. (F/n) knew. Miraki was faking it. She was given a dare to break the next boy who confessed to here's heart. And that unfortunate boy was her very own best friend and crush, Yamaguchi Tadashi.

(F/n) told Miraki off who gladly promised to break it off with Yamaguchi, who was ruining her reputation. The fact Miraki cared more about her image than Yamaguchi enraged the loyal (F/n) who slapped Miraki on her cheek.

And that action was seen by Yamaguchi. Never before he had felt so angry at the sight of his best friend slapping his girlfriend. Miraki, angered by the sudden action, started crying and spewing out lies, making (F/n) seemed to be the bad guy.

In short, chaos followed. Yamaguchi refused to listen to her, shouting at her to leave him and Miraki alone. (F/n) was stunned. She turned away and stormed off, her heart clenching painfully. What did she do to deserve this? Her very own best friend...

Two weeks later, after endless avoidance by Yamaguchi and constant searching for him to explain by (F/n), the freckled male called her, crying quietly over the phone. (F/n) made no hesitation and ran over to his place to give her gentle comfort and affections.

"What's wrong with me? Am I not good enough?" he whispered, before falling asleep in her arms, tears and all. (F/n) was silent, gently running her hand through his hair.

"No, you're perfect. You're perfect for me because I love you. More than anyone else in the world," she whispered back before planting a soft kiss on his forehead. "If only you just realise that."

Two more years passed. Their bond still was the same but Yamaguchi still had not realised that the perfect person was right beside him at all times. Endless crushed and failed relationships, she was there to comfort him until it was time...

For them to graduate from high school to dream universities. (F/n) was accepted to a university in a far off country while Yamaguchi was to attend a local but well recognised university in Japan. And currently, he was dating a sweet and nice girl which (F/n) was still cautious of.

"You'll see me off, right, Tada?" she asked hopefully as they parted ways. Yamaguchi gave a slightly distracted nod.

"Yes! Just tell me the details and I'll be there," he promised before letting his current girlfriend lead him elsewhere quickly. (F/n) pressed a hand to her heart and gave a shaky smile. Tears dripped slowly down her face as she watched her best friend leave, before once again turning away to find a quiet place to let out her suppressed feelings alone.

Two weeks. She was ready to leave. To go to a far off university. To face her future. Her phone pressed against her face as she waited for Yamaguchi to take her call. After a few tones, a cheerful voice came. "Hey, if I'm not answering it means that I'm hanging out with (F/n)-Chan or Tsuki! Please leave a message after the beep!"

(F/n) sighed in disappointment. "H-hey, Tada. I'm almost leaving already... Where are you? Do you want to come and say goodbye?"

As she clicked shut her phone, the announcement came on. "Last call for the flight to (Country). Passengers please make your way to Gate 4 right now."

(F/n) made one last search around the seemingly empty airport just to see if she could catch sight of a dark green hair but... guess he wasn't coming then. She gave another sigh before stepping through the gates. There's always the holidays, she assured herself. Not knowing of the horrible fate that bestowed over her.

Yamaguchi dropped onto his couch as soon as he got back from his date and pulled out his phone which was shut off. He should seriously start charging his phone instead of texting his girlfriend every night. As he charged his phone, he switched on the TV to watch the latest live news.

Immediately, he was shown of a plane crash, with a news reporter grimly telling all the viewers what had happened. Apparently the flight was heading towards (Country) which reminded Yamaguchi that (F/n) was heading there for studies.

He reached over his phone and checked it to see endless amount of missed calls from his best friend. A feeling of dread came over him as he clicked on a random voicemail.

"H-hey, Tada. I'm almost leaving already... Where are you? Do you want to come and say goodbye?"

Yamaguchi looked back out at the TV when the news reporter listed the identified people who died in the plane crash.

"Ryutaro Aki, Ryutaro Mei, Hakimi Aminato, (L/n) (F/n), Mayu Aiko..."

Yamaguchi paused as he rubbed his eyes. The mention of her name as one of the death casualties finally sank in. A heart-wrenching pain shot through his heart. His best friend... Dead.

Yamaguchi accidentally pressed the last voicemail from her. "Tada... There's something I like to say to you. You probably won't listen to this with this amount of spams but... I love you in more than a friend way. Just know that, if you've been dumped or left behind, I'll be here waiting for you. I'll come back soon, okay? Please give me your reply when I come back. Again, I just want to say this to you, I love you, Tada. Remember that, okay?

The last call. When you finally realise that you hadn't appreciate the time you spent with a loved one. At the airport, you always see these three things: Open, boarding now and last call.

Open: When you can still take your time to your gate because you know you still have a lot of time.

Boarding: When you hasten up a bit but with the knowledge that you will definitely make it on time.

Last call: When you have to run. Sometimes, you don't make it and by then, you're too late.

You never knew when our lives could be taken away so quickly or when our loved ones would too. We believed that our lives, especially us young ones, was that it was open. We could take our time but in reality, our life is our last call. It is our last call to really be grateful and appreciate the little things we have.

Yamaguchi lost (F/n), his best friend that constantly stayed loyal and faithful to him. She was taken away so quickly, leaving him regretting not being able to spend time with her and realizing her unwavering love for him. He was too late and that was his last call with her.

Note: Appreciate your loved ones. You never know when they will be taken away. Don't forget and neglect them for something better but fleeting.
